Just be aware that both Armour and Naturethroid have the exact same

thyroid powder from the exact same facility. The only difference

between the two are fillers. They are both great meds! :o)

Here it all is again. I posted this all this morning. LOL. Janie

ARMOUR is made by Forest Pharmaceuticals. It contains:

Porcine Thyroid Powder, U.S. Pharmacopeia

Dextrose (sugar--allows you to do it sublingually)

Microcrystalline Cellulose

Sodium

Calcium Stearate (stabilizer and lubricant)

Opadry White

NATURETHROID (and WESTHROID) are made by Western Research Labs.

NATURETHROID CONTAINS:

Porcine Thyroid Powder, U.S. Pharmacopeia

Microcrystalline Cellulose

Dicalcium Phosphate

Sodium Starch Glycolate

Magnesium Stearate

Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose

Stearic Acid

Carnauba Wax

Polyethylene Glycol

WESTHROID CONTAINS:

Porcine Thyroid Powder, U.S. Pharmaceopeia

Cornstarch

....and the rest may be the same above...to be continued

***SEE BELOW FOR MORE on GENERIC NATURAL THYROID, NON-PRESCRIPTION

NUTRI-MEDS, ETC.

Hormonally, Armour and Westhroid and Nature-Throid are absolutely

identical--they all get their Thyroid powder from the exact same

place--the US Pharmacopeia. What differs between them is the binding

ingredients. Westhroid uses cornstarch and Nature-Throid and Armour

uses microcrystalline cellulose. Armour has less ingredients than

both.

Microcrystalline Cellulose is what makes a product hypoallergenic.

Both Naturethroid and Armour would be considered hypoallergenic.

More details on some of the ingredients:

Microcrystalline Cellulose-- synthetically derived fiber base

(similar to plant-derived). It is typically utilized

as a filler in a tablet (to provide volume and bulk).

Dicalcium Phosphate - derived from a mined ore. It is typically

utilized as a binder in a tablet (to hold all the

ingredients during compression).

Sodium Starch Glycolate - Synthetically derived starch molecule

(similar to potato starch). It is typically utilized

as a disintegrating agent in a tablet (to aid in proper

disintegration of the tablet in the stomach).

Magnesium Stearate - Derived from a vegetable source (typically palm

oil). It is typically utilized as a lubricating

agent in a tablet (to aid in proper compression of the tablet).

Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose - Derived from a plant cellulose base

(typically cotton blend or wood pulp). It is

typically utilized as a granulating agent in a tablet (to provide

bulk and density to the tablet for proper

compression) as well as part of a clear coating solution (with PEG).

Stearic Acid - Derived from a vegetable source (typically palm oil).

It is typically utilized as a binder in a

tablet ( to hold all the ingredients during compression).

Carnauba Wax - Derived from the pores of the leaves of the Brazilian

wax palm tree. It is utilized in the final

stage in tablet coating (to provide a complete seal).

Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) - Synthetically derived. It is utilized

with Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose as part

of the clear coating solution.

GENERIC NATURAL THYROID by TIME-CAPS LABS CONTAIN:

Thyroid Powder

Microcrystalline cellulose

Dicalcium phosphate

Colloidal silicon dioxide

Sodium starch glycolate

Steric acid

Mmagnesium stearate

Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose

and " other ingredients " which we do not know.

The generic thyroid above are 65 mg. tablets (as compared to 60 mg.

of the others above). They are coated. For some

reason, they may be less effective than the name brands, say some

users, so you have to take more.

NUTRI-MEDS PORCINE, a non-prescription brand of natural thyroid,

CONTAINS:

Whole Desiccated Thyroid Glandular Concentrate - Porcine

Raw Porcine Thyroid Tissue 130 mg.

Dicalcium Phosphate

Magnesium Sterate (Natural Tableting Agent)

Hi Janie;

I am almost positive that naturethroid is 65mgs per grain, but

let me double check so that I'm not giving you the wrong info.

No, I take my meds sublingually. So far, I am doing pretty well

with taking 1/2 grain armour/naturethroid in the am while still in

bed, sublingually. Then, at about noon, I take another quarter grain

w/ half a synthroid (12.5 mcg), also sublingually, after lunch. I

would expect that I would have to increase it eventually, but right

now, this seems to be perfect. Another noteworthy thing: I only take

the synthroid/armour combination AFTER eating. I suspect that part

of my problem w/ synthroid was insulin related, by the weird

symptoms it caused me when I took it how the doctors prescribed it

(in the am , on an empty stomach)This problem doesn't seem to occur

with the armour/ naturethroid; although it does leave me to suspect

that the lack of dextrose in the naturethroid might be better for me

first thing in the am than the armour .

Once again, Janie, I can't thank you enough for pioneering

this " self help " movement. It has helped me tremendously; and has

given me back to my family. Because of you and this list with all

these great people, I didn't have to waste years of my life being

miserable.

O geez how I envy you your youthful family-oriented exhuberance & extra-energy

availability. If I had a family again to look after & a husband to love, it

would make me want to live again too. I'd then have something to live & get

better for. Loving husbands & kids can give a person extra needed supportive

energy & will-to-live. I know...been there, done that myself long ago.

Happy family holidays,

Caroline

Hi Kerry;

I know that everyone is different, but I definitely do better on

naturethroid. I feel so awake! Yesterday, I woke up, did my online

thing, practiced my mountain dulcimer (my birthday present from

dh,lol), worked out for 40 minutes, went christmas shopping,

homeschooled, took my son to gymnastics, cooked and cleaned up for

everyone, and hung out w/ dh till late ! Today, I was up at 7, and

am raring to go. But, it's not like the " coffee " type of hyper like

I had on synthroid. I feel young again!
