not reaping benefits from exercise

I just read an article about women who seem to not reap any benefit from

exercise - no muscle building or even weight reduction and the problem is that

they are low iron. perhaps not anemic but low.

here's what it said:

If those hours on the treadmill aren't getting you results, you may be iron

deficient. in a study at cornell univ. women with iron levels that were low did

half an hour of aerobic exercise five days a week for fourteen weeks. though all

the women increased their endurance, the women who took iron supplements

improved twice as much as those who took no supplements.

the researchers believe that low iron impairs muscle response. if you're iron

deficient, you may be working harder and benefiting less from exercise. the

solution: ask your doctor about taking iron supplements. and take vit. C to

better absorb iron.
