Guest guest
Not being a member of LPA I’m not sure how the membership works for a big person. Do they have full voting privileges etc? While I can see certain advantages to allowing family members of lp’s join the organization, such as broadening the support base and talent pool, it still seems odd to me that someone other than a little person can be a member of Little People of America. I’m not complaining nor do I have a strong opinion one way or another, it just strikes me as odd. Marty what do you all think? Hi, late lastnight/early this morning I posted about the supporting membership and membership in general. I would really like to know what you all think to what I typed. -Thanks, ===
Guest guest
Hi Marty, I am an average sized (well somewhat larger than average) grandmother of a little person and I belong to LPA so that I may be educated and helpful for her. My husband and I are coming to the convention to renew some friendships with some little people and their famlies. I do want to say that my granddaughter is unable to come to SLC this year so actually I am coming for her in a sense. We have not used any of the hotel blocked rooms but have reservations about a block away so we would not be taking any space that rightfully should go to the rest of those who are in attendance. Should we have a vote? I think if we do our homework and vote intelligently for the person who presents the best solutions for the issues which address LPs in general and my granddaughter in particular we should be able to vote. Key words being " homework and intelligently " However if it were determined that only LPs should vote, I would understand and be in total complience with that ruling and would continue my membership in LPA for continuing education which may have great value to . You brought up an interesting question. what do you all think? Hi, late lastnight/early this morning I posted about the supporting membership and membership in general. I would really like to know what you all think to what I typed. -Thanks, ===

I do and run daily scans and any virus on my computer will be immediately quarantined....so I don't worry much. Felicity's horse wallpaper was cute, but I am not sure it would be considered an attachment? Attachments get downloaded.......I guess better safer than sorry in this case. Guest guest
Hi everyone! I'm a newbie! I hope it's ok if I post a picture on here and get everyones opinion. I've been worried about Harlee's head since she was about 6 weeks. I've brought it to the doctors attention and she keeps giving me suggestions on how to help it (positions). Well, I don't think it's working. She said that we would take a look at it again at the next appointment, but that's not until after Thanksgiving. Can you ladies tell me your opinions? Do you think that this can be fixed by positioning? Thanks so much for your help!! Guest guest
--Hi , Your dd head looks exactly like my dd Jenna's head did. At her 4 mos check-up dr wanted her to be seen by facial cranial dr and he recommed to helmet her. He said I could try to repo but he said she was severe and she would get more benfit from the helmet. It took us until she was 6 mos old to get the helmet. In that two month period we did the repo and got some results. It wasn't until after she was wearing the helmet that her head started to improve. In 4 short weeks she went from and ear offset of 14 mm down to a 6 which is fantastic. We have seen wonderful results with the helmet. Her head changed so much in that 4 week period that she is getting another helmet because she outgrown the other one. Go with you gut instinct, if you think there is a problem ask to see a specialist there is not harm in it. They will tell you what you need to know. Does she have ear offset (where one ear probably the right is pushed forward)? Does one cheek look fuller than the other? These are signs that the one side of her face is being pushed forward. Let us know what you decide to do. Oh, by the way she is beautiful!!!!! Good Luck, Tina Mama to Jenna 7 mos old Starband 9/8/06 - ? - In Plagiocephaly , " " <fanov8@...> wrote: > > Hi everyone! Guest guest
Hi , I am also new here. My son is 4 months old, and tomorrow he goes for his casting for his helmet. He has been going to physical therapy for almost two months now, and also my husband and I have been doing positioning at home, and it just was not helping. So the orthotist at first said lets just see how therapy and it reshaping on it's own work out, but when he saw him today, he said that he would be casted on Wednesday. You know you daughter's progress better than anyone, so just stay on them.Tequisha Mother of (4 months) (Torticollis & Plagiocephaly) <fanov8@...> wrote: Hi everyone! I'm a newbie! Guest guest
Hi , you have a very cute baby, with a crooked head :-) I don't know if repo will help - after 6 mo old it will be hard to get her to stay where you put her, and if you haven't seen progress yet who knows if you will. If you band you'll definitely see progress. It is amazing how well it works. It does rely on their growth, so you don't know how long it will take, but you can tell it is working. we banded my daughter at 5 mo (we got the referal to a specialist at 4 mo, then it took a month to get the appointments and for the band to come in). Our specialist told us we could try repo for 8 weeks, then come for another visit, but I'm really glad we banded right away. she had a ton of correction the first few weeks, and since then it has been slow but steady. We will probably stop at the end of the month, and we are really happy with her head shape. She had severe brachy. good luck with your decision, and feel free to ask any questions you have. =christine mom to sydney/ 9.5 mo/ starband 5-31-06 > > Hi everyone! I'm a newbie! Guest guest
Hi , First, Harlee is adorable. Check out my son Drew's pictures (under D in the photo section - here is a link: http://health.ph./group/Plagiocephaly/photos/browse/5 966?b=17 & m=t & o=0). His top view looks similar to Harlee's. We noticed at 8 weeks, tried repositioning for several months while doctors told us to give us time, and then when we finally did the STARscan, found out he was moderate to severe. He is now 9 months old and in his STARband helmet for almost 3 weeks so far. So - I suggest not waiting much longer and seeing if you can get your pediatrician to refer you to a neuro surgeon or plastic surgeon's office, so they can take the actual meausrements to see where she is. That specialist might recommend you to a CT office or a STARscan in their own office (or Hangar or whoever). Then, you can decide where to go from there. Good luck! Stacia > > Hi everyone! Guest guest
Hello. Your Daughter is adorable. Yes, I definitely see plagio (looks probably moderate to me). At your Daughter's age, repositioning may help, although repo is not often very successful after about 6 mo, so your time is limited. I would definitely get a referral to a specialist and go see them about banding her as soon as you can. Good luck and keep us updated. Guest guest
- Your baby is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! I would say follow your instincts and research it further! Get a referral(if needed) to a craniofacial team - They can diagnose your dd. Also, see if there is Cranial Tech near you - they can do an eval. and let you know how severe the plagio might be and if a band would help - You can take that to your dr. IF you don't wanna wait till after Thanksgiving call your dr and let them know that per your research time is of the essence and you want to be seen now or get the referal to the cranio team now - BE PERSISTENT - I had to also! You are the voice for your baby!!! Let us know if you have any questions!!!! JEN Mommy to 4...and 1 more!!!! Her right ear is pushed forward like my daughter's too. We are in the process of getting a helmet for her because the repo is not making her head any better. When you see your dd in the mirror does her facial features look asymetrical too? I find when I look at her in the mirror it looks very obvious.
