We have to take this into our own hands. , I think that doctors (unfortunately) don't know enough about 'hormones' themselves to educate us. I have ambivalent feelings towards the pill. On the one hand, it truly did help with the Endo pain and monster cramping I had, but on the other hand, I think it did something to 'my' body and messed my hormones up. I think the synthetic progestins somehow 'sensitized' my body to even my 'own' Progesterone. My personal opinion is that I think it is really bad for 'younger' women to go on the pill...I started it the day after I turned 17. I didn't know what else to do for the cramps...that was 'before' all the info on Endo...I was in pain and just wanted help. I wish I had known then, what I know now. Speaking of the pill, on the news last night, they mentioned that a school district in Portland, Maine wants to offer the Birth Control Pill to 6th graders!!!!!!! That's right! Sixth graders! 11 - 13 year olds is what they said...I sat there in horror thinking, "oh, that's great, like a young girl hitting puberty needs the pill." Said it is the 'safe' thing since a 'small' amount of girls at that age are sexually active! Guess what? Pregnancy more than likely won't kill you....on the other hand AIDS will!!! So the pill is safe???? Sad that we live in a day and time when kids are no longer kids, but mini adults. *ugh* We've read the research articles Dee has sent in...when you take the pill at a young age, you are 9 times more likely to develop Vestibulitis (Vestibulodynia). Okay, I'll hush....just so sad! Hugs, Chelle
Guest guest
Yeah, the birth control in middle school is all over the news here since we're so close to Maine. I find it incredible that a girl can't get her ears pierced without parental permission but she can get birth control or an abortion. Guest guest
I would be interesting to know if there are more cases of vestibulitis now because of birth control pills or is it that women are just speaking out more. If this would have happened to me before the internet and I would have listened to my old doctors, I would still be in pain!See what's new at AOL.com and Make AOL Your Homepage.
