Guest guest
I didn't start losing weight until I got to around 3 grains of Armour. And the only way I could do it was cut the carbs. I can gain 8 pounds in three days, like I did at Thanksgiving (leftovers!) and while on vacation. It takes me at least 10 to get it off. But, before Armour, no matter what I did the weight wouldn't come off. I just kept gaining while not even eating that much. Cutting carbs didn't help either -- then. But, I've lost 43 pounds since August and I'm kind of at a stand-still. I'll be happy to maintain that weight loss through Christmas and New Years and then continue to lose another 15 or 20 pounds. I'm not starving and I do break over occasionally, like tonight. Stopped at 's for hamburger, fries and a frosty! But, I'll get back on track tomorrow and won't suffer too much for my lack of will power tonight! It seems for me, that once I got close to an optimal dose, my metabolism did get better -- haven't been able to lose for many years and now I can. So, hang in there and hopefully it will happen for you, too. I had almost given up being not fat. I didn't even care if I was thin. But now I think I can get there. People are treating me different at work, too. They were always nice to me, but some folks are talking to me and more friendly now that I'm thinner. I agree with Sammie that there is definitely a stigma when you aren't thin. And I ate less than most of the skinny people at work. You may have to experiment and find out if you have any food sensitivities. There were some foods I had to give up, but I don't miss them, and I do have them occasionally. But, it helps me lose weight if I don't eat those foods. B. --- Sammie Baker wrote: > Ingrid, > > The worse thing is that I think starving even > further > lowers our metabolism. Guest guest
Well, unfortunately I have Grave's, so I have to stay on ATDs to lower my antibodies to get into remission. However, as far as I'm concerned I'm HypoT. Right now I'm on 100mcg of Synthroid and 3.75mgs of methimazole. ly I'd rather be on no Methimazole and more Synthroid. Armour really made my TED worse, other wise I would go on it. Maybe I will try adding Cytomel after my next doctor visit. But how do you know if you need T3? How much is 3 grains of Armour? Does that equal 300mcgs of Synthroid? SAMMIE --- Benoit wrote: > I didn't start losing weight until I got to around 3 > grains of Armour. And the only way I could do it > was > cut the carbs. Guest guest
SAMMIE, I would not think T3 (Cytomel) is going to be a good thing for you if you can;t tolerate Armour. As you don't have the TED problems on T4 only meds it is likely the T3 in Armour that aggravated that condition. Maybe MORE T4 till your Graves is in total remission then you might be able to tolerate Armour in small dosages with some T4 additional. There is 9 mcg T3 in 1 grain of Armour most Cytomel is 20 or 25 mcg pills. If Armour bothers you, be very careful trying Cytomel. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes?
