Guest guest
Hi SusieQ, Thanks for talking back, and I think the men should just take a step back...literally. I understand about coming to terms with limitations. I have to also. Drs want me to use the wc when I am home alone...not. maybe. And I do use the wc when I'm out, unless I go shopping, then I use the elec buggies!!! Like the drs told me, if I fall and break something, I'll be done and its a wc all the time, especially if its my leg. I'll think about it tomorrow! Thats my philosophy. Thanks again Kathy SusieQ wrote: ---------------------------------
Guest guest
Oh Kathy It is messages like yours that keep me going. I'm serious! Living solo with this stuff is very frustrating and I need rreminded that a major benefit is I don't have the emotional roller coaster of putting up with or dealing with another day in and day out. Maybe, just maybe if I share a little you will also find benefit in your situation. Here goes: When I need to go to the store I must plan that trip around my spasticity. Some of the time that means eating instant oatmeal for dinner and waiting one more day. So on a good day I think I'll shop and stock up....but the basket size on a scooter doesn't facilitate stocking up. When a ceiling light bulb goes out, I cannot just replace it. I must wait until my balance is stable enough to climb a ladder so I may have to spend a day in the dark. I bought a cheap lounger with no arms and low to groound so I could sun a little in between house hunting. While just one hand from another would bring me up to standing, by myself I must wiggle and squirm to the edge and then try to stand...knowing that my slow assent causes the chair to flip and throw me to the ground on my knees. Now on the front ramp! I would be raving and ranting. There are other options that do not take away the aesthetics of your home entry. One is a porch lift which can be concealed easier and gives the impression that if you are handicapped at least you are mentally high tech. But the bottomline is he didn't ask you. Communication!!!! He ASSUMED and you know what they say..when you ASSUME you make an ASSofUandME. enough said Eva
