Hey Girl, What was the name of the antibotics they gave you to take for the

elbow?

I put heat on it at night and lots of lotion during the day. The horrible

pain has eased off and now it is a dull ache. Infection in the bone sounds

scary. Sounds like something very scary like Masto or Cancer. What tests did

he do to know it was an infection in the bone? What follow up did he do? I

have had cancer before. Dear God I hope this is not that revisiting me again.

I don't know if I have the strength to handle that again. I guess we have all

we need to get thru whatever happens to us. Put me

on all your prayer lists. Love Carolyn

Carolyn,

Don't know if it's the same as what I had last year, but will tell you how I

was affected. My right elbow became very red, swollen, hot and painful..skin

was very dry there. I thought it was bursitis. I kept vaseline on it and an

ace bandage and it went away after several weeks. Then my left elbow did the

same thing only it just kept getting worse. The vaseline and ace bandage

helped with the pain but after 4 weeks I finally went to the Dr about it

because by now it was constant pain and even interrupted my sleep. Dr said

it was infection in the bone (don't recall the medical term), and I had to

take antibiotics for 4 weeks before the swelling and pain finally went away.

Hi Carolyn,

I don't think you should worry that this is cancer. I cannot remember the

medical name my doctor called it. Mine did like yours, hurt, eased up some,

then hurt more. Did this for 4 wks and then got really really bad. Like I

said, I thought it was like bursitis, and thought I had gotten it from

leaning my elbow on the desk when I read email (back then I spent a lot of

time on here). Still think that is what caused it. He just said it was an

infection in the elbow joint, and I believe it was Biaxin he put me on for 2

wks. At the end of 2 wks it was feeling much better but still hurt so I had

to take the antibiotic for another 2 wks. Since then it has been very

normal. After all the inflamation went away it took a week or so to get rid

of all the dry skin on my elbow. Try using an ace bandage..not too

tight..and see if that doesn't help a little. Also keeping vaseline on it

helps keep it soft and it's easier to rid the dry skin. If it keeps up you

really need to see your doctor.

Hugs, Elaine
