What if helmets are not a covered benefit?

I want to know if anyone has had luck with their appeal when the

insurance plan chosen by the employer does not include coverage for

orthotic helmets.

I have the appeal letter, the research and the letters of medical

necessity but am wondering if any of this will do any good if it is

not a " covered benefit. " When I give the insurance company the

equiptment code, they tell me that it is not a benefit chosen by my

husbands employer.

I am so mad-so my son is supposed to go through life with a deformed

head b/c my husband's companys benefits executives didn't think

orthotic helmetswere important? (we're getting the helmet anyway- I

am just really

mad about it).

Thanks for any input,
