I think this is a common scenario. I was a member of a mental disorder forum

(BDD) and I KNOW that there are lots of folks there who just have low thyroid

like I did...and that it's the low thyroid causing their mental symptoms.

But it's hard to convince them that this hormone deficiency can cause their

problems...it seems they all want some kind of quick cure with an psychotropic

drug.

I'm glad you pursued this with your daughter and getting her what she really

needs.

I also was on anti-anxiety meds for TEN YEARS before starting Armour and

stopping them after just two weeks.

Dang doctors.

I had been wondering if Vet's carried Armour, but no Vet is going to give this

to us, they could loose their license! Maybe we could all have a copy of your

dogs test and say it is our dog, find a new Vet and get the Armour!! LOL

Armour for Kayley

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share my recent Holiday experience with you all, and who

knows I may be able to help some of you out.

All weekend I was sick with an intestinal virus. Sunday I was laying on the

couch and heard a huge crash and a horrible scream. I looked out the window and

my 13 yr old Westie, Kayley had been hit by a car. Apparently my dh was

watering the garden (we live in S FL) and accidently left the gate open. OMG it

was horrible, an 87 year old man was behind the wheel and just kept on going (my

neighbor followed him) Anyway, she was in shock and of course we took her to

animal emergency room and the next day our regular Vet.

Monday I had my appt with my Endo. I had always been suspicous of my 21

year old daughter maybe being hypo. She has fatige, devistating anxiety attacks,

depression....on and on. But the only answer I could ever get is Throid is in

normal ranges. I finally went to her Shrinks office with her and demanded a

copy of her test results. All they checked was TSH, 3.96. I could literally

kill these Doctors, they've had her on antidepressants and Zanex for two years.

Of course my Endo said the apple doesn't fall far from the tree when I showed

him the test and he'd check for antibodies, do the free's and start her on a

trial of Armour.

Tuesday, the Vet called and said Kayley was ready to be picked up, just one

thing: he had checked her for Hypothroidism and guess what??? I just started

laughing uncontolably. I think the Vet thought I was losing it! (maybe I was)

But here's the good news. I convinced him to treat her with Armour! Thanks Val

and Roxanna for your expertise. I faxed him info from the Armour site along

with the dosing info Roxanna had emailed me. He calls me last night and asks me

how he wants me to call this in to Pharmacy. It seems dogs need twice as much

Thyroid as humans. She'll eventually be on about 4-5 grains. He actually asked

me if I wanted him to prescibe it for me so my insurance would pay for it! I

said no, I think they might become a little alarmed if it looked like I was

taking 7 grains a day!

So, the moral of this story is always act on your hunches. My husband gave

me greif every time I said I think my daughter or my dog was Hypo. Said I was

paranoid and seeing it in everyone. Well, if the shoe fits....he's next. Also,

if you have a friendly Vet this may be a way to get our Armour. I consider

this the Armour Revolution and all is fair in love and war!

Charge!!!!!

Debbie

ps Kayley has been on Armour since tuesday and is now trotting when I take

her for a walk!

I had a Doberman on Thyroid meds 20 years ago. Do you think they would still

believe me if I say she is still alive and needs Armour??? LOL
