I had this while hypo. it's lots lots better now. I imagine it has

something to do with the muscle strength being lost with hypo.

I had no babies but early hysterectomy. I leak like a sieve unless I take some

estrogen. For a short while Progesterone creams helped this, but then I started

having many low hormone things like night sweats and hot flashes and temper

flashes. Nope never heard that term but it fits, HUH? LOL The estrogen has

stopped all that.

I was having the hot flashes & sweats like mad too plus increasing " leaky "

bladder since I stopped taking Estradiol about 3 months ago. So a couple of

weeks ago I got my Rx refilled & started taking it again. Now the hot

flashes/sweats are not as bad & I'm hoping they'll go away eventually if I stay

on it.

The leaky bladder is improving too I've noticed. I used to have to wear a pad in

my underwear. But now I'm not even wearing underwear which I hate wearing anyway

since the elastic hurts my nerves around my waist & low back area where most of

my spinal pathology pain is. And even tho I drink about a gallon of liquids,

mostly water, every day. But I do have to know where all the bathrooms are when

I go out....yes!

I've never taken the progesterone, like the cream Endau, that the HRT egroup

says works so well. If I can get the Estradiol to help me then I'll keep on with

that & the Armour too. The Endau cream is too expensive for my wallet anyway & I

get the Estradiol which is most like human hormone by Rx covered by insurance.

So I have to take what I can afford or what my isnurance covers mostly.

Caroline,

there is much hype about endau progesterone cream, I tried it and didn't find it

any better than some of the cheaper ones. One of the best AND the cheapest is

from this pplace www.ourhealthcoop.com

It is $6.83, I've used it and can recommend it

Well of course it is age related - in that the final straw seems to be low

oestrogen. I think that if the births did enough damage for it to go on for any

time after the births then you will be a natural candidate for it as your

oestrogen drops. But mine has disappeared since I started treatment so I think

its to do with muscle strength as well.

If you don't want conventional HRT I am told that oestrogen pessaries are very

effective too - and make you juicier generally!

Stress incontinence and low thyroid

Does anyone know if low thyroid function contributes to urinary

stress incontinence? Or does anyone else have this problem? I have

had 3 very large babies (> 10 lbs) - but any stress incontinence

problems cleared up within a year of their births. However, about

the time I started to develop thyroid problems, the stress

incontinence became an issue. Maybe this is just related to aging.

Also, the Kiegel exercises have not helped very much at all.

Probably because of the chronic hypo, yes, possibly.

Strange, I wasn't dxed hashi till I was 48. I had the goiter after my kids

which the youngest is 30, but that supposedly got better when I stopped

having kids.
