Tummy Tuck Insurance Question

Hi everyone.....

I'm a long time lurker, first time poster. I had my GB done by Dr. Magnuson

in Baltimore on October 5, 2000 (my 45th birthday!). No complications ever

and I'm now down to 210 from 390, from a size 34 to an 18. I would do it

again in a New York minute and I'm very grateful to all of you for all the

wisdom I've gotten from these digests.

Okay, I need some help. I have a hernia and am ready for a tummy tuck. I

applied for it through my insurance company and just heard that I've been

turned down. Apparently, they consider the tummy tuck " cosmetic. " Has this

happened to anyone else? Has anyone successfully appealed a denial? On what

basis? I need some help in figuring out how to successfully argue this. I'd

very much appreciate hearing from any other vets who've had the same

experience.
