Guest guest
Do you have a general practice dentist? Or a family doctor? Ask for a referral to a dentist, first, if you haven't. Or ask your dentist for a referral to an orthodontist and/or oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Or to several of both. Remember that even though your major objective at the moment may be cosmetic, you may have major skeletal and structural problems in your body that are causing the troubles. And that you do not now know what those troubles may develop to be in 10, 20, 30 or more years, if your TMJs are destroyed by difficult balances and pressures. Not saying that the surgery will fix them preventively -- but it will be a lot easier on you, and your insurance company, to take preventive action now than to play catch=up later. Ask the dental/medical surgical jaw specialists for help with your insurance plan. My Blue Cross did not require that the repairs were necessary to save my life, but they did cover it because my body had not sorted itself out the right way -- meaning that my lower jaw turned out too small and off to one side for it to work, long-term, with my upper. You may or may not have a struggle ahead of you, but at least if you have the advantage of experts and their knowledge of the technology and the way the systems work, you can have the benefit of their help.
