Guest guest
Hi and welcome to the group, Considering your gasto-intestinal involvement you might also consider getting tested for the helicobacter pylori bacteria (H-pylori), particularly since you said that when your symptoms got bad again you would raise the doesage of tagamet that you were taking. H-pylori causes about 90% of duodenal ulcers and about 80% of gastric ulcers. Most patients are given long-term H2 blockers (ie, tagamet) which may relieve ulcer-related sypmtoms and may even heal the ulcer but they do NOT treat the infection. When the acid supression is removed, the majority of ulcers (particularly those caused by h-pylori), recur and symptoms may inflame. I think it would be worth you ruling this in or out in the early stages of investigation since if it is the cause of your hives it is not stressful to diagnose (you could get the breath test), and can be quite easily treated (with anti-biotics). Best wishes Edinburgh
