I have also noticed the same thing about my daughters hair and it makes the flat side even more pronounced. surprisingly her head looks better if i put her hair in 2 pigtails or 1 pigtail rather then just leave it free, because when it is free you can really see the difference in the hair, which like i said makes the head look worse. i have noticed this ever since i noticed the plagio just about. candice, ny cathyl65 <cathyl65@...> wrote: HiI was wondering if

Hi , We also noticed it with our son . It is so much nicer and thicker on the non-plagio side, but on the other side it is thinner and the hair line is different as well. The doctor's all say it will get better, and they barely notice it, but his physical therapist noticed it right away, she mentioned it to us. So now we say we are not crazy. He is getting his second helmet next week, so hopefully after this one, we can get the hair back together. . My daughter has a head full of hair. And I think the only thing I realize that is different between the 2 sides( we are waiting on her band to come in) is that the hair is flatter- because she always rolls to that side and where the ridge is on top of her head (the slope that starts the flattening) has a weird cowlick. I am hoping that when her head rounds out that her hair will grow in a better pattern and lay down better like the other side. cathyl65 <cathyl65@...> wrote: HiI was wondering if anyone else has noticed in their child that the hair on the plagio side of their head is different? My son who according to Hanger "graduated" still has flattening on the right back side of his head. hi my daughter is the same way. the hair is flat on the side that her head is. i keep hoping that as she gets older, her hair will thicken and not be so noticable. it also doesn't help she has a swirl on the back corner of her head( on the rounded side) that seems to make it even more noticable. she is 2 1/2 now and i was wondering if any of you reading this could tell me if you or anyone else had any kind of treatments to help after the helmet came off? or after 2 years of age. i know i saw a post once on here , they had a 4 yr. old ina helmet i am guessing because kids go through a growing period then? any advice would be great. cathyl65 <cathyl65@...> wrote: HiI was wondering if anyone else has noticed in their child that the hair on the plagio side of their head is different? My son who according to Hanger "graduated" still has flattening on the right back side of his head. I'm not sure if it is realted or not - but Luli's hair is different from my other kids - in that her hair pattern doesn't naturally fall to one side or the other. It's hard to know if I should part it on the left or the right. I personally think that becuase she was head down and engaged for so long her hair growth was messed with, KWIM?

Hair on the Plagio Side of the Head

Hi

I was wondering if anyone else has noticed in their child that the hair

on the plagio side of their head is different?

My son who according to Hanger "graduated" still has flattening on the

right back side of his head. He has a bit of hair but 2 things I

noticed is the hair on the non-flat side is very full and the hair on

the plagio side falls much flatter is not as full and seems much

thinner. I would like to know if this is because of his head still

being flat??

I keep being told by everyone that I will be the only 1 to notice but

I notice every day becuase of the way his hair falls and looks?

Did anyone else notice this about their child prior to banding and

then once graduated was the hair even on both sides then ?

Thanks

Thanks Jen!

I am hoping that with time his hair will look even on both sides.

Guess we will have to wait and see!

I know what you mean. When my son sweats because his hair is so thin

on the plagio side it makes it alot more pronounced, the flattening I

mean. I am hoping with time everything will even out with his hair.

You say your daughter is 2 1/2 now. Did she wear a helmet? And if so

how come she still has flattening or did you not go for a 2nd helmet.

I am in the process right now of deciding if i should go for a 2nd

one because of the flattening I still see. I know alot of people on

this group have talked about CST (Cranial Sacral Therapy) that they

have done in conjunction with the helmet or even after the helmet

comes off. But I think it is individual to the child as to how much

more improvement they get with the flattening with this type of

therapy.

hi, yes we did the helmet a star band for 4 months, and at 11 months they told me it would get no better. she did get a lot of rounding out onthe back side of her head but it still flat, and has the bossing on the right front side. at the time i didn't know about this board and was overwhelmed by everything. it makes me so sick to my stomach to know that she could have gotten a second band. the doctors told me not to worry, it will be hidden by her hair , she won't have any adverse side effects. pretty much the same thing everyone else was told on here. she doesn't have any side affects as of yet. she has positional plagio and she had a slight case of tort, which i knew that and started doing baby massages on my own before the dr. would give me a referral. so by the time we went for our band she didn't have it anymore. from reading everything on here i think we will go to a chiropractor and see what can be done with the CST.

all i keep thinking is what if when she is older she wants her hair cut really short? or what if there is some side effect, like headaches or vision problems. i have a folder of pictures of her on here. her name is rhylee elizabeth. what do you all think? i need to take some new one up close of her head from the top so you can really get a good look. thank you so much for your time and i think it is great that there is place for moms to go and talk about this. christiecathyl65 <cathyl65@...> wrote: I know what you mean.
