Guest guest
Lia, In the first place IgA testing is not for allergies. Allergy testing for food has long been useless for many reasons so says ALL of the doctors I have talked to except the allergists themselves (who surely don't want to tell you that as people will stop going to them to have the tests. IgA involves disease of the mucus membranes. IgA testing is for autoimmune reactions--if there is a food you may eat that causes your immune system to attack your body very seriously. These antibodies are very dangerous to the body. You can have IgA testing through blood tests but they aren't very accurate for the simple reason that the IgA reactions and antibodies take place in the intestines so it is easier to find them there than looking for them in the bloodstream even if they do survive until they get there. People are tempted always to go to allergists for this plus you can put in on the insurance usually. My advice has always been to not even bother. They test for different things. Enterolab has the best, the most accurate and the newest tests for IgA reactions to food. There are reasons that mainstream medicine hasn't incorporated these particular tests and theories into common use and most of it involves how much money would be lost by all the people involved in my opinion. Lia, if you have a mineral malabsorption there is a reason for it--like something wrong in your small intestine for example--like antibodies that are destroying it which is where the enzymes are made for absorbing minerals and vitamins. I think you should all stop looking for allergies and start looking for autoimmune disease that affects the intestines (and I wouldn't go to a gastro to look for it until you have the stool tests to see if you gluten sensitivity). And it depends upon how much damage has been done before one can expect to heal immediately. My opinion. Arline --- limay103 wrote: > I personally am skeptical of IgG testing. Guest guest
Hi Lia: My daughter went to a GI for testing. She had vesitibulitis and stomach problems. They do a lot of blood testing for autoimmune diseases. I can't remember all of them. ANA, Sed rates., C Reactive Proteins. They look for inflammation in the body. Not from foods. It is not allergy testing or food sensitivity testing. She did have an autoimmune disease that caused her vesitibulitis. Guest guest
Lia, It wasn't I that said you had IgA testing. (I don't think). ;o) I was suggesting there is a difference between allergies and reactions tested by IgA or trying to. Also I was suggesting that IgA testing is better for food testing and the allergy tests aren't any good for food tests. If you want to be tested for Crohn's, go to a gastro. If you want to have gluten testing go to enterolab and even if you want to test for colitis I would go to Enterolab. Everybody should be gluten tested. Many countries require all children to be tested before seven years of age even if you don't think that is your problem. Anyway, that is the way I see it.
