Guest guest
Hi All, Remember me,I'm and I joined the August surgery crew kinda late but I still made it on the 28th.I'm glad to hear everyone is doing okay. You guys are great at being supportive.I'm sorry I didn't post sooner but I did make it to the other side okay.My mom is still here helping me take care of the kids.I am so grateful.I was wired for the first two weeks and now I wear bands at night.I can open a little but can't really chew.I've lost some weight and I am losing interest in eating cause it's pretty much not worth all the trouble.I live on shakes and soup.I have experienced stinging lately and I was wondering if I was getting an infection but I am rinsing with peroxide. One question to you vets, How did your bite come together after the surgery?I had an underbite and now I have a kindof overbite, the surgeon said my jaw would grow but on one side of my mouth my teeth still really don't meet.I have a splint in there but I can still tell.I'll talk to my doc next week but I was wondering if you had this happen to any of you.My doc said I could pretty much do anything but I am scared to jog!I am about 2wks and 3 days post op and I need to exercise.I feel kinda weak though. How long did you guys feel weak? Please someone tell me something like you guys did before. You were right it wasn't that bad.But I guess I didn't realize how long it would be before recovering completely.I wish I would of had a broken toe instead.Genes dont work too well sometimes!Everyone take care and don't forget to drink lots of water, I did. Take care,
Guest guest
Hi , Welcome back! As for the lack of energy, it will come back. Just don't overdo it. I found each week I got stronger. You'll find that you may only be able to do two hours of activity, then poop out. That's ok, just listen to your body, it's telling you how hard you can push it. I didn't start exercise until week 6, and even then, I went very carefully, all I did was yoga, and I didn't do any of the postures where I had to hang my head. I was also very careful with any that required balance as I didn't want to fall and break my jaw again! I did go for short walks after the first week. I actually walked the halls of the hospital the evening of my surgery. Walking is probably the best exercise you can do, and the safest. I had no children to take care of, and can't imagine how I would have coped. Of course, on my good days, I can't imagine how I would have coped either! Somehow you manage, I guess. Your ortho will be able to do more finetuning once you get back to seeing him, but don't hesitate to ask your surgeon about your bite - sometimes they need to make adjustments in the rubber band arrangements. Happy healing! > Hi All, > Remember me,I'm and I joined the August surgery crew > kinda late but I still made it on the 28th.I'm glad to hear everyone > is doing okay. You guys are great at being supportive.I'm sorry I > didn't post sooner but I did make it to the other side okay.My mom is > still here helping me take care of the kids.I am so grateful.I was > wired for the first two weeks and now I wear bands at night.I can > open a little but can't really chew.I've lost some weight and I am > losing interest in eating cause it's pretty much not worth all the > trouble.I live on shakes and soup.I have experienced stinging lately > and I was wondering if I was getting an infection but I am rinsing > with peroxide. One question to you vets, How did your bite come > together after the surgery?I had an underbite and now I have a kindof > overbite, the surgeon said my jaw would grow but on one side of my > mouth my teeth still really don't meet.I have a splint in there but I > can still tell.I'll talk to my doc next week but I was wondering if > you had this happen to any of you.My doc said I could pretty much do > anything but I am scared to jog!I am about 2wks and 3 days post op > and I need to exercise.I feel kinda weak though. How long did you guys > feel weak? Please someone tell me something like you guys did > before. You were right it wasn't that bad.But I guess I didn't realize > how long it would be before recovering completely.I wish I would of > had a broken toe instead.Genes dont work too well sometimes! Guest guest
, you're doing fine. Don't worry about hurrying back to the jogging. Just take things slow and easy until you're not so exhausted (although I do find that exercise gives me more, not less energy). But for a while, you need to concentrate on packing in the calories to support your healing, rather than burning them up. You can't tell anything about your bite at this point, and I'd bet your ortho will have lots of nice little elastics that can work wonders to line things up, once you have the basic structure in place. Both my ortho and my surgeon told me they overcorrect a bit, to allow for a bit of inevitable relapse. Hang on, and keep on going. I was weak for over a month, but I am older than dirt, as my young friend Miz Fiddly likes to remind me. Best, Cammie
