Guest guest
Being self employed I need to pay for my own health insurance. This is costly and the coverage isn't very good. AARP has come out with a plan through United for people like me who are not at retirement age. The posted prices (it can vary) looked much better. I applied for it and was told I would hear from them in 10 days. It's been about 3 weeks and I got a phone call last night from them. A male nurse had questions for me that came from the underwriter. It was unbelievable! They asked if I had gone to an urgent care in the last year, why and if there was a prescription and what is was for. They asked why I had taken gabapentin and amitriptyline. I said for pain. What type of pain. Vulvar pain. What was my diagnosis. I didn't want to say vulvodynia but had no choice!!! I told him I don't take the pills any more and that I no longer have vulvodynia. He asked me so many questions about cholesterol, physicals etc. I asked if they were looking for people who had absolutely no health issues and he laughed. I found this very disturbing. This plan isn't that great and they don't want to pay out for anything...just take your money.
