Guest guest
Ladies, Just wanted to update you all and let you know I have decided to go through a 2nd UAE procedure, and have scheduled it for Sept. 24th. To refresh your memory, I had my 1st UAE in March 2002, and had a recurrence of bulk symptoms at about 6-8 mo. post UAE. (Though not as bad as pre-UAE) I returned to my IR for an MRI, which showed two fibroids had found a blood supply. I chose at that time to wait for another six months, and have a subsequent MRI, which was done in August. Though the fibroids had not grown, I still have some bulk symptoms which have become more noticeable, and some fibroid related pressure. I have, as of this morning, scheduled a 2nd UAE. The 1st time around I had an epideral, this time will have conscious sedation instead. I have been SO DEPRESSED about this!! In part because I realize how rare it is for a woman to need a 2nd UAE. I am concerned about ovarian involvement, but at the same time I want this fibroidial ordeal OVER-without hysterectomy. I already discussed this with my IR, I am 39 yrs old, and don't want to go through menopause yet either. I realize it won't be certain about the ovarian involvement-or the extent of it-until an angiogram is done. I have been dealing with fibroids since January of 1995, and am TIRED as hell of it! Probably the only good thing that has come of it is that it has made me more aware of women's health problems, and made me an activist to help women experiencing these problems. I have talked with anyone who will listen, educating neighbors, friends, relatives about hysterectomy, and women's choices, or should I say the lack thereof. Thanks for listening. You are all my heros! Very brave women!! Someday women will look back and see that our generation was the first to say " NO! " to hysterectomy and force change. -Elise, MN.
