Guest guest
The body can feed off itself for a long, LONG time, but eventually things start to go south. On another list I'm on, a member's brother-in-law just died due to malnutrition following a proximal RNY. I think he was about seven years out. Never had a protein shake, never took a vitamin in his life. Yes, he actually bragged about this fact. Bragged about it all the way to his grave. Guest guest
My opnion is wait until you actuall get a denial letter from them. You said the nurse was going to have the doctor call etc. See how that pans out. If you do get a written denial letter, which they have to provide, then go the next route. I've been to appeal with BC/BS and have won so I know it can be done, but let the original process play out first. Might create more problems right now than letting the surgeon handle it. However, keep in contact with the surgeons office to be sure he is taking care of business. Guest guest
Before I got my braces my orthodontist told me I might have to had my jaw broken. I've got a Jay Leno type chin but a lot less severe. Before I got my braces my orthodontist told me I might have to had my jaw broken. I've got my braces off(for almost a year) and should have what I think might be my last ortho visit in a few months. At my last visit he said he was a bit concerned that my upper and lower teeth were meeting at the tips insteadd of the top going infront of the back. I just wanted to know if anyone has been in a similar situation...and if it would be cosmetic or medical to get it fixed. I definetely want to get it fixed eventually but how soon will probably be determined by if I can get covered by insurance. Any advice would be greatly appreciated... Guest guest
Probably orthognathic surgery will give you both medical AND cosmetic benefit, and probably you will have to persuade the insurance company (unless you are inependently wealthy and can afford to spend big bucks with the docs) that it is NOT cosmetic but is indeed medical. Possible medical helps: curing sleep apnea, relieving headaches and/or TMJ troubles -- although it can also make TMJ troubles worse, and I think I've even heard of a few folks whose headaches were worse post-op, helping with periodontic disease, etc. Plus it enables your ortho to match your teeth and jaws up, and thereby helps with long- term retention... You probably know about the cosmetic advantages already.. And they don't really " break " your jaw so much as do a carefully calculated set of cuts, and then tease the bone apart, protecting the big nerve that runs through the bone. It's not at all as though someone took a clawhammer to it, believe me. Cammie > Before I got my braces my orthodontist told me I might have to had my jaw > broken. Guest guest
Hi! I would find out first if you need the surgery for medical reasons... and yes, if your ensurance covers it... also... you have to have in mind that you will need braces again *maybe?* because of changes that your jaws and teeth will have post-op. Maybe other member will give you more detailed info... Everything I know, I learned here... good luck! > Before I got my braces my orthodontist told me I might have to had my jaw > broken. Could his breathing issues be because he is getting enough air in, but he is having trouble getting the Co2 out? Has he been to a pulmonoligist?Hugs,Jan wrote: Hi Guys Duane is having a very hard time breathing but when I tale him to the DR his 02 is 98 % so its not because he is not getting enough air but he acts like he cant. That seems to be there answer for every thing IF his muscles are getting week in his chest so it feels that he cant get air would he have a low 02? or could it be normal? Guest guest
I wish I could commit to being NC and not wavering, but things come up and need to be dealt with such as illness, etc. Case in point, my nada was arrested and spent 32 days in jail. 74 years old. This brought the family together as we were horrified and saddened at the same time. Nada's youngest sister and I worked together with nada's attorney to get her released...it was quite an ordeal. We made all the arrangments to finally get her home, hired a care worker, nurse, cleaning service, had meals delivered to nada, etc. We thought nada hit rock bottom and would emerge as a different person and thankful for all we did to resolve the situation and trouble she had gotten herself into. Nada loved the attention and rather than having remorse over what she had done she blamed everyone but herself for what happened. Then she spiraled right back to her nasty old self. During the course of all of this stress, I ended up at the hospital having liver/gallbladder scans as we thought I was developing a problem. No problem just stress. Well, here we are at NC again. To answer your question, we had to get nada out of jail. Remaining NC and allowing a 74 year old sit in jail is unacceptable. So for us it's an in and out of NC kinda life. And with Christmas around the corner I can't help wonder what nada will do next in order to get the attention she lives for. After her time in the slammer I look at it this way... next time I have to come out of NC, I'll look at it as a dirty job that needs to get done, do what I have to do and return to my life. And try as hard as I can to remain emotionless about it. Hope this gives you some ideas that might work for you...
