Guest guest
Hey folks, I'm looking for some help out there! Many of you are familiar with my site and my reasons for keeping it. Well I've got a problem! It's hosted on Homestead and they are slowly but surely nickel and diming me to death. My site gets anywhere from 300-600 hits a day and because of that I use a lot of bandwidth. Homestead (in their infinite wisdom) had decided to charge for additional bandwidth. I get 3 gigs a month included with the price of my " membership " and must purchase more at the cost of $50 a gig. As far as I can tell, my site needs from 8 -10 gigs a month to stay up and running. That's why (anytime now) as my Homestead account cycles (the 13th) that my site is down for about a week. No money = no bandwidth=no site! So here's my problem. (ok, one of many!) Money of course! That and finding a new home for my site. I've done a bunch of research and most places that will give 10 gigs of bandwidth charge from $300 to $500 a year. I just don't have that kind of extra cash! I don't mind moving my site, but here's another problem. Looks to me like Homestead is propriatarial. What I mean is that I don't seem to be able just to transfer my site from Homestead to anywhere else. Looks like I may have to rebuild the whole darn thing. So in light of that, I'm trying to do so with FrontPage. And that's more than a little confusing too! So folks....if you have any suggestions for me, I'd appreciate it! It's taken me 3 years to get my site and way I want it, and I'm not crazy about rebuilding it but I'll do what I have to! Rather than clog up the boards, please respond back to me privately. email me: njtomato@... Thanks again for your help! Sue Open RNY 10/26/98 From 500 lbs to 164! I know that's a necessary evil but I really hate the ones with those blasted popups! Or that keep opening windows on you! Arrrgh!! Makes me nuts. (and by the way, here's the url of an dandy site called Panicware that has a popup stopper. I've been using it for about 3 months now and it's wonderful! Prevents most of those pesky windows from going out of control on your desktop. Only problem with it is if you do any online shopping and want to open a new window to see a product, you then have to disable it, but it's just a quick click ( http://www.panicware.com/)
