Duragesic

Another question on this. After a long list of failed pain meds, this one seems

to be hopeful. The family sees a huge difference in his change for the better.

Clear head, sociable, happier, but Dylan is going crazy with the side affect of

the cold sweats. We are at day 10 now. At day 2 the sweats started. Now at the

4rth patch, I'm seeing a pattern. 3rd day on the patch, his pain increases, New

patch day, he gets the cold sweats really bad. His teeth chatter, and he shakes.

It may be too soon to know for sure, but I think day 2 it goes away, day 3 he's

in more pain and no cold sweats. I really want to have him give this some time

to work it out, but he's getting impatient. This one is finally controlling the

pain, his head is clear, and he is not depressed. 7 weeks ago he was on 60 mg of

Methadone, titrated down. when he was on 10 mg he started the Duragesic, and the

Meth stopped, 10 days ago. I'm sure this cold sweat is from the duragesic. Did

any of you have this reaction? He is running out of options for pain control,

and this one seems to be the best for him, but he just can't handle the cold

sweats.

Do we wade it out? I can see now that he needs the patch every 2 days instead of

three, but will these cold sweats go away? Cindy C.
