I had know idea that you had 18 previous surgeries! What have you had done if you do not mind saying? I thought that I have had many, but not in comparison to what you obviously have gone through! Well I hope that you are having a good evening and feeling well today! LOL and Best Wishes! Dawn

Hi Dawn,

I will list the surgeries. The first on was in August of 1999. The rest have been since then. The most recent was this past August, I had the SCS put back in. It was all due to a horrible injury to my leg. The second surgery which was in October of 99 is when the nerve was damaged and the RSD began.

Z-plasty of Achilles tendon. This was due to a contracture of ankle. Basically it is a lengthening of the tendon to make the joint functional

Removal of neuroma from Saphenous nerve with burial into Tibia. They actually drill a hole in to the Tibia and put the end of the nerve into it so that the neuroma wont grow back

3 skin grafts to RSD leg (all done at separate times)

tendon removal due to severe bacterial infection

4 separate I+D's to RSD leg (radical debridements)

SCS battery replacement which caused MRSA, a month in hosp and ultimately had the SCS removed

nerve entrapment release

resection of clavicle due to osteomylitis, (bone infection) they remove the diseased part of the bone. This was due to septicemia (blood infection) and nasty bacteria traveled to the clavicle causing the infection of the bone

port placement into chest for long term IV infusions

SCS implant I have had this done 3 times first two were removed due to complications. I just had it put back in in August and no complications this time

carpal tunnel of left wrist, this was the only surgery that was not a complication or due to the injury that caused RSD

Peripheral nerve stimulator in RSD leg. This did not work and was ultimately removed. Got no pain relief but got nice 6 inch scar on my thigh

2 separate surgeries to remove SCS due to complications

I think thats everything, I HOPE thats everything!!!!!!!

Also I have had numerous "procedures" such as placement of central lines, femoral, subclavian, and carotid (pre-port placement) , countless nerve blocks, joint manipulation under anesthesia due to frozen shoulder which was secondary to an infection of the clavicle (collar bone).

My body looks like a battle ground. I live at the beach, used to live in bathing suits and shorts. I cover up more now. Too self conscious about the way I look.

You mention that you have had some sugeries too. What have you had? Was it related to the RSD? Please have a great holiday, Take care, Love Jai
