Guest guest
Well, Mike, this is exactly what I was looking for. I do have the Gach book, and I now remember looking up headache before, but being in the fog I'm in today, I didn't think of looking at my book. Dumb! Can you tell me how long I should hold the spots? Is it just until I feel the pain go away? Will these techniques prevent headache as well, or just relieve the pain? At the end, as I was writing my first post, it finally came to me, that you would probably have the answer I need. Thanks Mike, again, for all your help! I will do these tonight. I think the one I need right now, is the tension headache. I really appreciate your advice! Love Lana
Guest guest
Well, Mike, this is exactly what I was looking for. I do have the Gach book, and I now remember looking up headache before ... Can you tell me how long I should hold the spots? Is it just until I feel the pain go away? Will these techniques prevent headache as well, or just relieve the pain? I will do these tonight. I think the one I need right now, is the tension headache. ----------------- (1) How long do you hold? Well, for me, it is usually less than a couple of minutes for the headache to go bye bye. I generally, on any of these (acupressure or polarity) say to " hold for a balance " if you can feel the energy. If you can't feel it, then 2-3 minutes. (2) Why wait until tonight? If you still have the headache, do the tension points now. The GB 20's are about one finger width on either side of the spine, right at the base of the skull. The B 10's are about three finger widths down from the base of the skull, right along the spine. Reach back behind with three fingers of each hand and push the pad of your ring fingers up into the occipital ridge (base of the skull). Have the pads of your pointer fingers just at the edge of the spine. By using all three fingers of each hand in this position, you will be on the spots. (3) Can they prevent headaches? I would have to say yes, based on my own experience with them. When I first started doing them, it was for immediate pain relief when I was suffering from a skull pounder. Once I saw that they were actually working, I started doing them at the first hint of a headache. After a couple of months I suddenly realized that I wasn't getting them anymore. Like I said in the earlier email, I simply don't get headaches to speak of anymore. And for having been brutalized by them for half of my adult life, that is a pretty darn good feeling. (4) My personal, favorable, experience with using acupressure for my own headache relief was what got me started down this heavy duty continuting education path. I'm just not thinking clearly right now. I printed off your reply and will try this! I think I have a circle thing going on - I have muscle tension in the shoulders and back, then get the headache, take something for that, end up with a different headache, and get more tense because I have another damn headache, etc. etc. Sorry for the naughty language, but that's what I feel right now! I appreciate you telling me where the points are, Mike and how long to hold, since I'm at work and don't have access to my book. I'd bring it to work, but I'm afraid I'd leave it here and then would need it at home! Love Lana
