Hi ladies,

Thanks so much for all the support. It helps so much to get those

emotions out--and then to realize that so many others are feeling the

same way.

I have some questions about cervical mucus--and apologize in advance

if it is too much information. Background..I had an operative

hysteroscopy on Feb 19th with a Z-list doctor. He put me on 7 days

of doxycyline, and 2.5 mg/day of estrogen for 60 days after the

surgery--should finish this up in mid-April. One week after the

surgery I saw him to remove the balloon catheters--at that time he

did an endocervical culture that came back positive for Group B

Strep. I did a 10 day course of the antibiotic augmentin (amoxcillin

+ clavulinate). As soon as I started the antibiotic, my CM got very

clear, stretchy and egg-whitey (as I expected it to be on the

estrogen). I wasn't sure if it was because of the antibiotic or

because the estrogen was finally building up in my system. He

repeated the culture and this time it came back negative. Within a

few days of finishing the antiobiotic, my CM started to dry up and

get opaque, clumpy and sticky. I thought I might be starting a yeast

infection so I used an OTC cream. This didn't make a difference. As

it stands right now, I am almost completely dry. So I guess my

question is, is this odd? Shouldn't the estrogen be increasing my CM-

-should I be concerned? I don't think I have any symptoms of a

bacterial infection--no odor or weird discharge. I was thinking of

putting a call in to my doctor, but want that to be a last resort. At

my last visit, he accused me of being obsessive (yeah, so what if I

am? Can you blame me?).

One last question, someone here mentioned a hormonal connection to AS-

-something about raising FSH levels. I wasn't aware of this. Can

anyone shed some light?

Thanks in advance!

Post-happy Haley

Haley,

I think I read somewhere that that being dry is due to lack of estrogen? Not sure, may be wrong. Please correct me anyone.

I think your doctor should give you some answer. It annoyed me to read that your doctor accused you of being obsessive. I think that these type of doctors should think again before they speak to an Ashermans patient.

Not sure about your question regarding hormonal connection to AS. As far as I am aware, there is no connection. Again, correct me if I am wrong anyone.
