I'm two weeks post-op and did use a juicer. What I found was that it

was a lot of work and not very satisfying. I wanted more substance

than the clear juice. I did use it for smoothies but the vegies

didn't taste to good with the yogurt and fruit. I also found that

the carrot stained my splint, so I wouldn't do carrot.

As far as the psyllium, drinking anything is not a quick and easy

process. If you are wired or banded the liquid has to either go

through the spaces in your teeth or down the sides. Even though

there is not much caloric value in the juice it's a great source of

nutrients. If you're into the juicer, definately go for it.

I got a little (ok, a lot) bummed out cause I was sooooo tired of

using the syringe. I started out gung-ho with the juicer, the soups

etc, and then gave up cause I was feeling sorry for myself. I'm

feeling much better and am starting back with all that. I can

actually eat soft foods now (no chewing) and am going to make some

muffins with the vegi pulp today.

Best of luck to you. I just keep telling myself that I've gone this

long with a screwy bite (I'm 39), what's a few weeks in the scope of

things?

Lorna... here I have not seen messages about constipation... BUT

PAIN KILLERS produced that in my case... take that into consideration.

Sharon, did you finally get and official surgery date? I go back in

next week just to verify that my roots are going where they are

supposed to. I definitely don't want to get a week out and be

rescheduled again.

Actually, , I'm a bit confused myself. But here's the whole story...

My surgeon originally left me a voice mail a few weeks ago telling me it was

scheduled for the 3rd at 7:30 am (with my pre-op visit on the 29th of Sept) and

that he was thrilled with this time saying it was too good to be true. He asked

me to call him back and let him know if that date was okay with me, but he

strongly suggested I make it work as it is a really great time for him (he

doesn't like afternoon surgeries he claimed).

Anyway, I excitedly posted my surgery date on this site and called him back the

next day to confirm. His receptionist said " Oh, Sharon, the hospital just

called back and said they have an " issue " with that date. So don't hold the

date anymore, we'll call you when we know when it's going to be. " Okay, so I

was bummed....and I waited, and waited...two weeks later - no call back from the

surgeon's office. I finally called him and he came to the phone directly

wondering what was the matter. When I told him I had not heard back from him

about a surgery date, he was perplexed and asked who from his office told me

that the 3rd was no longer the date. He said, yes, the hospital did say they

were having an " issue " but he told them to call him back if it needed to be

rescheduled and they never did call him back. So as far as he was concerned, it

is still on the 3rd. He said he'd call to confirm with them this week, but that

he'd put up a big stink if they changed it this late in the game. SO he said

the 3rd is a go unless I hear otherwise from him.

I do plan to call him again on Friday, just to make sure. But for now, at

least, it's the 3rd. Although, honestly, nothing in my life ever works out as

planned - so a big part of me is not counting on it.

I'll keep you posted.
