Guest guest
Hi everyone, I tried to write an email last night,,or rather veeerrrry early this morning but in my sleep deprived state,,, after writing it, I some how, instead of sending it, deleted it!! 3:00am is NOT the most productive time to work/write or do anything! Yesterday I discovered by accident something that may prove to be pretty diagnositc about my daytime sleepiness problems! I was riding in the car with (she was driving thankfully) and I was falling asleep as she drove and talked with me. She looked over at me and said " Mom, are you going to be able to do this errand with me? " She then asked me if I wanted to try one of her Adderalls (similar to Ritalin) informing me that Ritalin is often used for treatment of Narcolepsy which I knew also. After some thought about it, I decided, reluctantly to go ahead partially because I knew that I wasn't going to be able to do what I needed and wanted to do with her. Well, after some time, it dawned on my slow brain that I was awake, I wasn't fighting to hold my eyes open, I wasn't having double vision, all the things that have been happening to me. It was honestly and truly like a miracle!! I was awake, able to be coherant and had more energy!!! My s Hopkins doc had once suggested that it may be helpful. Wellllllll, I couldn't believe it!! It was so wonderful. I can't wait to tell the sleep doc or someone. I don't like the idea of one more drug but being able to read a paragraph or have a conversation or write an email and stay awake and not fall out of my chair from falling asleep would be so very wonderful!! I just wanted to let everyone know. Everyone has been so sweet and thoughtful. Thank you all. I can't type any longer as I am fighting off the sleep monster and he is winning , unfortunately!! Take care,
Guest guest
Hum, Adderrol is used for ADD. My tried it, and it made her very sick. It's the stimulant in it. Now she's on Strattera, and it's great. Anyway, you should still go to a sleep center. Are you going to? I didn't ask what kinds of meds they rx for daytime sleepiness. I just told them I can't use a stimulant, cause they make my heart race. At least things like Sudafed do. Is Adderrol the drug they use? That would be great. I can't imagine getting through a day without having to sleep. Or, without being so tired that all I can think about is when I get to sleep next. I know exactly how you feel. I just want to sleep all the time, but I haven't fallen asleep without being conscious of it. That must be scary for you. I think, after this sleep study I'm having next week, if they find a way to keep me from sleeping every day, It would be a miracle, and I would be so happy. It's like a viscous circle. I hurt, and I'm so tired, so I sleep, and when I wake up, I feel worse, or at least no better. Then my pain gets a hold, and I can't deal with it the way I should, cause I'm so tired, then I sleep, then I feel worse, then the pain............................................................................\ .................................................................................\ ....... and so on and so on forever and ever.......................... So, at least now I know that since you tried it, and got good results, then there's got to be something out there to help me with this horrible problem. Thanks a lot! I almost can't wait to do this sleep study now. I've been thinking they won't be able to help me. It's been like, my whole life that I've been tired. So there's hope.......................... Hugs,
Guest guest
That sounds right, . They're giving Mike Strattera (I think) now because it's supposed to be a time release type of Ritalin. Good luck and let us know how it turns out, OK???
