Guest guest
Tonia, I was a little curious about this new law also. When I was in the ER recently the doctor there actually asked what type of pain narcotic would I like? I thought that was odd, being he was the doctor, but I am at least glad that he recognized my pain and wanted to give me something for it! I was actually good and told him not to give me anything, because I had methadone with me and would see my regular doctor on Monday! Tonia if you have a website I could go to and read about this or know where I can get more info about this, please let me know, I am really curious how they feel that this can be done legitimately and how people will suffer and not get treated correctly!! I am thinking that this has to fall under certain circumstances and if you do have legitimate pain and an excisting condition they must treat you!!! Well if you have more info please send it and I hope all is well with you and your family!!! I hope the girls are being much better behaved for you and your husband. Have you gotten all your Christmas Shopping done yet? I put all my gifts under the tree last night and do not have nearly any room for the gifts my Mom is bring over and the ones my sister sent from Colorado. It looks like my Mom and I are a family of ten with all the presents we bought each other! I know I did not have the money, but my Mom is worth it more than anyone I know, for all that she does for me! She is even paying for my dog to get professionally groomed this week. That is going to cost about $94.00. That is more expensive than my hair! Mine is only $80.00 and I have a lot more done! Well again sorry for the Novel and hope all is well. Do not hit me with the cyber noodle please, word just came out and hope you have a great day! LOL and Best Wishes Always!!! In fact if I get a horrible migraine my dr sends me to the ER for a demeral (sp?)shot because he doesn't keep any in his office. I had a morphine shot in the ER when I started going into withdrawals about 2 months ago. I can't believe the DEA can dictate that because many people who are in serious car accidents or other accidents and in horrible pain would need to have a shot of morphine or other narcotic to get the pain down. I know if an ER dr talks to your own dr he can fill a script for your narcotic to last 3 days by law but no more...but if you haven't been on a narcotic they can prescribe one if they feel it is needed but for no more then 7 days worth because that gives you ample time to see your reg dr or a specialist. I have never had a problem when I have gone in for a migraine..I even had shots of morphine when demeral didn't help. I even have a standing order at the ER for when I come in for migraines from my neurologists to treat me with demeral 2 shots max then move to stronger narcotic measures. I hope that somehow you got misinformation cause if this is true then many people who need a shot of a narcotic for pain that end up in an ER are going to suffer needlessly because of this ridiculous law. I wish the DEA would stick with illegal drug control instead of targeting ERs and Pain management drs it just seems to me when they step in they don't help prescription drug abuse but prevent people who really need pain relief from getting it.Hope you have a Great weekend..Hugs..Ginny Tonia wrote: Going to an Emergency Room won't help unless you are actually in the middle of withdrawl symptoms, because they will no longer give a patient a shot of Morphine while in the ER. Last Month, the DEA changed the Federal Laws so that the ER's are Unable to give anyone a shot of ANYTHING Narcotic. Pain meds included. The only way that you will be able to get a Narcotic Pain Med refilled, or something to last you for a day or two, is if your doctor will write you a prescription for the med, or if the ER Doctor prescribes you some. BUT, shots are out of the question. Tonia
