Guest guest
hi everyone... 14 days post op and my first day back to work.. things are good, had two post op appointments and everything healing well... get my splint off on 9/8.. i would say that its the only thing that sucks about the whole thing.. liquids and the splint.. but other than that its amazing.. ohhh my gosh.. i love everything about it.. the first 4 days sucked, i got really dehydrated and lost 10 pounds first 3 days so had to get replenished but other than that my pain was minimal, swelling was pretty bad but after i peaked it started to go down quickly.. i do not regret anything..i mean i am starving to death but for everyone out there waiting, ohh you'll be so pleased with the results.. it sooooo worth the fight with insurance, the painful braces, the long waits.. its so worth it... keep it all positive and it will be a breeze.... i paniced about so much pre-op and to be honest with you none of the horrible things i thought would happen, did... i mean the congestion is difficult and the swelling and pain, but hey stuff like that happenes with many surgeries.. this is something we have all wanted so id take it all!!!!! its really not even that bad..... not at all... i read so many previous posts and thought oh my god how horrible.. but honestly its not.. not at all.. so i say to all pre-opers, sure those bad things can happen, but if you keep positive energy thing all will be fine.. sincerely..... oh yeah, one last thing.. i really didnt like the zip-n-squeeze.. to much work when i needed to eat, syringe much easier... but thats just me... good luck to everyone waiting for surgery!!!!! deana
Guest guest
Congrats on your recovery Deana! I'm taking another week off work, just so I will have enough energy. In the meantime, I've been working from home on a laptop. That's great news on getting rid of the splint. My 2nd post-op appt is next Tuesday, and I hope I'm told the splint will come out soon! It is such an annoyance! I'm with you, all in all this hasn't been a horrible experience at all - well, except for the first week. Keep up the good healing! Guest guest
Thanks for the update Deana, pre-opers like that need it to be reassured! I am so glad to hear that you are doing well and back to work. How is your talking, are you finding that you are being understood? How long was it before you could really talk well? Are you still swollen....what was the initial reaction from your co- workers. Sorry for the 20 questions, but all is helpful. You had upper/lower/genio right?
