Guest guest
Hi , I'm 21 months post-op and basically have no interest in food. I actually eat to live and I suppose that's a very good thing. I can tell the difference between really good tasting food and mediocre but it feels like it really doesn't matter all that much. A little part of me is mourning my old taste buds but I never really tasted food anyway; I " shovelled " it in. If this is the biggest problem post-WLS, you won't hear me complaining. I'd still rather " eat to live " than " live to eat " . My .02. Marcia - 140 lbs. VBG 4/26/
Guest guest
Hi y'all, Next week I'll be 18 months post -- From day one I have not had " taste buds " in the fashion of the old one's... I can taste the difference in sugar free popcycles and I can " feel " the difference in say... soup vs. grilled chicken... in terms of how quickly I fill up and stay full -- but food really holds little interest at all -- protein shakes I do religiously but don't care to " doctor up " the flavor because it is all the same to me *shrug* just chug 'n go. I hear everyone talking about " this taste " and " that taste " and wonder if I'm the only one who doesn't really have much interest in the " taste " thing. I'm also still not " hungry. " As a rule, most days I still eat by the clock -- every 3 hours, something in the pouch for health but not because I'm " hungry. " I do have a few " hungry day's " now and again. Usually one or two days at the most and I eat and eat because I know it won't last -- I defrost every healthy food I've got the urge for and go for it... then it passes. If all of this is normal at 18 months and will change at X=time -- anyone have an idea of when I can look for a change (I'd like to know before it hits...) If this is just normal post-op and isn't going to change that is really ok too... life like this would be fine... will it stay or will it go? thanks, ~denise
Guest guest
: I found my interest for food greatly diminished during the time frame you mention. Friends would deliberate where to go eat and it just didn't much matter to me since I could only eat a certain amount any way. This was a radical change from pre-WLS where I would really engineer the plans. Now at almost four years, it has changed some, but it is just not as important as it once was. I don't eat bad-tasting food....it's just not quite as important. I will get attracted to certain tastes now and pursue them for a while, but I can't imagine it will ever be the same. Fine with me!
