Guest guest
Trish, My doc didn't say anything about limiting the amount of caffeine. In fact, he said tea and coffee after the surgery were fine. I don't drink either but I just wanted to let you know. I did drink about 3-4 diet cokes a day before the surgery, but since then (13 days post op here) I have had exactly 2 oz of soda. I just can't stomach it any more. pre-surgery question.. Has anyone's doctor said anything about limiting the amount of caffeine we should be drinking before surgery? I am trying to cut mine out completely, but I do have 1 diet coke a day.. is this bad? Guest guest
I was just worried at how the caffeine effects your liver.. I am eating less than 20 carbs per day, per doc instructions.. and that's supposed to help your liver.. I just didn't know how the caffeine effected it!! Thanks for the info!! good to know that my one a day isn't doing too much harm! Trish > Trish, > > My doc didn't say anything about limiting the amount of caffeine. Guest guest
the issue with caffeine is that it's a diuretic. & posties need aaall the fluid we can. pre-op? my doc unwisely gave me ZERO guidelines, so it was basic hedonism for me. in hindsight, & 14 months later, i would recommend a thing or two, but it's not like i walked the talk... lori h. > Has anyone's doctor said anything about limiting the amount of > caffeine we should be drinking before surgery? Guest guest
Get off caffeine NOW pre-surgery. You won't get any in the hospital and you'll feel like $hit if you don't get caffeine free BEFORE your surgery. I gave it up two weeks prior to my surgery and have not had any since. I sleep better and feel better.
Guest guest
Also caffeine is a no no for the Atkins way which our way of eating is similar. Caffeine and Aspartame can slow down the weight loss process. > > Has anyone's doctor said anything about limiting the amount of > > caffeine we should be drinking before surgery? Guest guest
starting a supplement routine, practice not drinking w/ meals, cut back on carbonation, take in adequate prot to promote healing, clear any meds/herbs with doc to make sure they don't interfere w/ anesthesia, stock the kitchen w/ postie supplies(s/f jello...), it sounds like a tall order but i wished i had been placed on a diet b/c the 7 lbs i gained torture me NOW. lori h. > > the issue with caffeine is that it's a diuretic. & posties need > aaall > > the fluid we can. pre-op? my doc unwisely gave me ZERO > guidelines, > > so it was basic hedonism for me. in hindsight, & 14 months later, > i > > would recommend a thing or two, but it's not like i walked the > talk... > > lori h. > > > Trish
Guest guest
Trish, At two weeks prior to surgery, my guidelines read, " STOP any " herbal medications or teas. Minimize the use of caffeine!!! " No reason why, but look at all those exclamation points! Just to be safe, I'd call the surgeon's office and see if one a day is okay. I do agree with the idea that you should wean yourself now, if it's the caffeine is the reason you drink it. - > Has anyone's doctor said anything about limiting the amount of > caffeine we should be drinking before surgery? Guest guest
Yeah, mine didn't say anything about the caffeine.. just staying far far away from Carbs.. So, I think tommorrow, I start with NO caffeine, meats are pretty much gonna be it! (which is good.. cause I won't be able to eat steak for a long long long time-- so I better get sick of em! LOL) Yep.. me, caffeine free tear, water, and meat... yummmmm > > Has anyone's doctor said anything about limiting the amount of > > caffeine we should be drinking before surgery?
