Most of Dr. Leyland's practice right now is for ob type surgeries and he does approx 3 Asherman surgeries a month. From every doctor I've talked to prior too my hyst/lap and the ones that I have been dealing with now at Mt. Sinai all rave about him and his surgical capabilities. I know at least 3 other women that were part of this group also had successful surgery with him prior to my surgery. The wait was about 8 weeks to see him and then another 8 weeks to get in to surgery. He seemed nice - but was down to business not overly chatty. He does tell you how rare Ashermans is (yes we've all heard that before). My treatment - dosage of Lupron one month prior to surgery to reduce the amount of blood during the surgery - hyst/lap with IUD after for 10 days (I know IUD is recommended by many of the doctors in this group but I think there are some differences between what Canada/U.S. use) - high dosage of ovral (estrogen/progesterone I believe) for 10 days after - once you have a period/bleed then return for a sonohistogram He did visit me as soon as I came too, and he also filled out a list of questions re amount of scarring, location of scarring for me as I figured I wouldn't remember much when I just woke up. I had a really heavy period after coming off the drugs and then they were lighter but that seems the norm among us asherman patients. I would definitely recommend him and feel that the surgery was a success for me as I'm now 19.5 weeks pregnant. please feel free to email me if you have more questions at dmmackey@...
