WOW! What a day!

It sure is the pits when you have to deal with a teacher that you don't like. Especially when you are afraid the teacher will take out her anger towards you on your child. What is the deal with not using the phone without a note?? Ridiculous. A 6 year old needs to phone their Mom and the school won't let them???? EGADS! It frightens me that she is walking alone at 6. I hope to God you get your own car and soon! There was an attempted kidnapping at the other end of our town on Tuesday of a girl Kylie's age. She got away but it scares the hell out of me. I don't even let Kylie walk from the bus stop anymore and she is almost 13!! She is the type of person though that would want to help someone if they asked even though we have been through all the scenarios of kidnappings. She is just the type that would fall for something!

Anyway, I hope your week gets better!

Dawn... don't be sorry for the long post...sometimes it takes a long post to get things out, right? My prayers are said for the new vehicle. You need it! Annette

-----Original Message-----From: Dawn Sent: Thursday, December 12, 2002 9:10 AMTo: OurMyositis Subject: Tuesday's eventsWell, I had an extremely eventful day on Tuesday and thought I wouldshare it with all of you. Okay, a little background info. first. Acouple weeks ago, Marlee came home and said she can't walk to schoolanymore because she can't breathe. Although we are directly across thestreet and it's really not a far walk, she has asthma and it bothers hermore in the winter (as w/ most asthma sufferers). So, I asked a littlegirls mother that's in her class if she could pick Marlee up everymorning (it's not out of the way since we're right here by the school)and drop her off in the afternoon. She said sure and has been doingthis every since. However, she had a baby the other day (Monday) andplans got messed up a little. The little girl told Marlee on Mondaythat since mom had baby, she had to ride the bus to her grammy's, soMarlee had to walk home. The next morning, I wasn't sure if the dadwould pick her up and since he didn't, I had to send her walking again. However, I told her to ask the little girl in school if she was going onthe bus again or if her dad was picking her up and if she was taking thebus, she was to call me and I would have my Uncle pick her up. I didn'tget a phone call, so I just presumed that the dad was picking her up.However, after school, I see Marlee walking home yet again. I openedthe door as she was coming up the driveway and saw that she was justsobbing. And I mean SOBBING. It tore my heart out. She said that herteacher (who's a #itch anyway) wouldn't let her without a note.Although Marlee begged her 3 different times and even told her that hermommy wanted her to call so I could get her a ride home lined up, shestill said no. I was FURIOUS!! I don't even think furious describesit. I've been very close to calling the teacher and the principal abouta couple of other incidents that happened this year, but this was thefinal straw. I called the principal and told him I was furious aboutthis and demanded I get an explanation. Apparently, a note is requiredfor students to use the phone, but nothing was ever sent home advisingus of this, so I wasn't aware of this. Besides, she's 6 years old, howwas she going to abuse her phone priveledges at the school? He said hewould speak to the teacher, especially since she didn't have a ride homeand she has asthma but he felt that I should call her as well. So, Ispoke to the teacher and made myself perfectly clear how furious I wasand it was quite a long conversation. I told her just like it was andalthough I wasn't yelling, it was a very confrontational phoneconversation on both our parts. I even brought up past incidents that Ifelt were uncalled for and told her that she's way to harsh with thesekids (heck, she's just plain old mean) and that most of the parents haveissues with her as well (which is very true). She hung up on me.Anyway, I just want this year to go by as quickly as possible and justget it over with. However, Marlee had better not be treated poorlybecause of the teacher's feelings for me. Or there will be hell to pay,I'll tell you!! I'm the type of person that cries when I'm mad.Thankfully, I didn't cry while on the phone with her, but I cried hardthe rest of the evening. Kirk came in from work and didn't know whatthe heck had happened and Marlee kept trying to comfort me. Bless herheart! So, yesterday was the kids' Christmas concert at school (whichwas terrific, btw) and afterwards I went to get Marlee to walk home(slowly!) with me. Most of the kids has already gone and I had to speakto her teacher and asked her where Marlee was. She looked at me andsaid "who"??......AS IF!!!! Who else did she think I was asking for??She bloody well knows who I am! Oh well, hopefully the rest of the yearwill be okay.Sorry this is long, but this brings me to another thing that happenedthat day. So after all the problems I've had with not having a vehiclefor this or that, I told hubby when he got home that I needed a vehicle,no matter what it took! He's got a '91 Ford F150 that's in very goodcondition, but hasn't run for the last year because we don't have the $$to fix it (he thinks it's the transmission). I've always been at him tosell it, but you know a man and his truck. Well, I wouldn't take nothis time. I had called a local garage earlier in the day to see ifthey had any cheap vehicles for me to buy and then the topic of Kirk'struck came up and he's very interested in buying it (I think), eventhough it's not working and he came by yesterday morning to look at it.We should know more tonight. I'm hoping can get at least $1500-$1800out of it. I found a '93 Ford Tempo for $1800 that's a good car (I knowthe mechanic who has it up for sale) and I think I could beat him downon the price. So, please say a small prayer that this deal goes throughon his truck and I can get myself a cheap vehicle for running the kidsaround and doing errands. Thanks and sorry for the extremely LONGpost. Ya'll must really love me if you're still reading this. LOL.Dawn

We do love you Dawn! Teacher's can be so frustrating and rigid! And her attitude about pretending not to know who you were talking about when you asked where Marlee was really stinks! If there is any way you can afford a car you really need to get one since Marlee has asthma--not to mention your own health problems! Good luck! Hope it works out!

I didn't mean to scare you with the kidnapping stuff. Sorry but it does scare me! Kylie used to walk when we lived close enough to see the school too. She is another one that would walk right into the street. She is so easily distracted. When she was younger and played softball, she would stand in the outfield and watch the birds fly over and pick flowers!!

This attempted kidnapping down here has all the police baffled. The kid said that someone grabbed them from behind and covered their mouth. No one saw anything though and they don't have any clues. Thank God she got away though. It supposedly happened as she was entering the school campus but there was heavy fog all over that morning.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it's going to happen. Hubby called

the guy last night and he feels that he's going to have to put way to

much $$ into it to be able to offer much at all. He's coming over to

talk to Kirk face to face tomorrow, so we'll see what he has to say.

Sadly, Kirk really doesn't know how much he should even ask for it,

since it's not running, so we're not really sure if his offer will be

decent or not. I know that Kirk won't give it away, even though it

needs alot of work. He's attached to that truck. Oh well, guess I'll

have to wait until I get my Disability before I can get a vehicle.

Hopefully it will be next Spring.

Yes, it scares me to death too. However, you would really have to see

where we lived in connection with the school. We are sooo close and I

stand at my picture window in the living room and see her from the time

she walks out the school's door. Even the teachers can see me standing

there after school (as I was informed by Marlee's teacher the other

day). The sidewalk is right across from my house and she is EXTREMELY

careful about crossing the road.....otherwise I wouldn't even dream

about having her cross by herself. All kids are different that way and

Emma will be a different story all together. She wouldn't hesitate to

run into the road with traffic. Scary!! Once Marlee crosses the road,

she's on our lawn and into our house. I'm not saying it couldn't

happen, but highly unlikely, especially since we live in an extremely

small town (actually it's called a Village) and everyone knows

everyone.....that type of place. If she were kidnapped, I would

definately see it happen. I know it wouldn't help, but I really don't

worry about it too much here. She walks everyday in the Spring/Fall,

but can't seem to do it in the Winter. Her stupid teacher even made

snide little comments about her asthma. And actually lied about her

running around all recess (she cannot run w/ her asthma and I was even

watching her at recess from my window and she was NOT running!) and then

she said " if she can run, run, run all recess, I don't see why she can't

walk home directly across the street " . UGH!! Okay, I'll shut up now.

This thing really has me riled up. She's lucky I don't own a gun. Ha!

Of course, I'm just teasing. I'm not a violent person.

Yes, that's true, Vickie. But I don't think it's going to happen right

now. I don't think the guy's going to want our vehicle, afterall. I

told Kirk to put it up for sale and he probably will, but he doesn't

want to give it away, because he's so attached to it. I'll probably

have to wait until my Disability gets settled, whenever that will be!!

Until then, I'll just have to keep bumming rides for both Marlee and

myself. :o)
