He freaks my mom out. He can go almost 3 minutes without breathing sometimes. They will not give him sleeping drugs for the obvious reasons of stopping breathing all together. He also has the ability to control his respiration's to almost death state. He loves to do it when a nurse is taking his vitals! He too had trouble with the cpap and just will not use it. Guest guest Posted February 20, 2004 Report Share Posted February 20, 2004 Oh! I know why your mom gets scared! When was in the hospital after her lung surgery, they had her on so much meds. They had a very hard time controling her pain. She would sleep, and I was there next to her in a cot, and I couldn't sleep because she was barely breathing. She would stop for what seemed like very long periods. I ran to the nurse, and she told me not to worry about it, that it was from the meds. But, of course, I did worry.
