Guest guest
sounds good Robin! I am having people over next week for cedar salmon and am purchasing a 16 foot plank........ can I send you a 12 inch plank for the next time? I really want you to try it this way? Guest guest
Actually, by the time I buy salmon again, I plan to have a plank, but I do appreciate the offer. I'm gonna stop in at the local home improvement center if I go out tomorrow. If I can get one there I will use it tomorrow. You just soak the wood for about two hours, then grill the salmon on it out on the grill with the lid down? Guest guest
Right Robin..... but if you can soak it a little longer.....Do it. I usually put in water in the morning and really get it saturated. Grill over medium heat if using a gas grill or....... if you use charcoal-- that works great too! I have even made this over a wood fire with a Heavy Aluminum Foil tent to keep the smoke in........ Yes ..... Cover the grill. Di
Guest guest
Well you could go get a cedar plank at any old lumber store, but it is the salmon Fillet that you do that way. I don't know how the steaks would be, they might be better just on the grill than on the plank. But the way you are talking about doing it in the frying pan sounds great too.... Try a little dill and white wine maybe. That is the marinade (with lemon and salt and pepper) that I put on my plank recipe. Lots of dill tastes good with salmon. Now tell me how to make turkey soup again would you in a low carb way? I have never made turkey soup and I have a carcass in the freezer since Christmas. I better use it or lose it don't you think?a -----Original Message-----From: Robin Sent: Saturday, February 16, 2002 8:10 PMTo: AtkinsChallengers Subject: Sunday's cooking Tomorrow night we are having salmon steaks for dinner. Guest guest
I put a pound of ham chunks and two ham hocks in about 4 inches of water and cook the heck out of it. I often add some ham base if it needs it. NOt too much or it becomes salty. I cook a large onion in it and some celery stalks and some whole, crushed garlic cloves. Then when it tastes right, I remove the celery and add cabbage which I have coarsely chopped and I usually have to add some water so it will cover the cabbage. It's great. I also sometimes do this with polish sausage and a couple ham hocks. RE: Sunday's cooking How do you make a pot of ham and cabbage? I want to get into cooking on Sunday. Guest guest
What are ham chunks? I don't think I've ever seen anything but a ham with a bone, a boneless ham, or a ham steak. Guest guest
ham hocks are like round peices of ham and fat with a bone in them. They are the size of a fist and are usually where the bacon or maybe the ham is. Ham chunks is just cut up ham - you can do it yourself or just buy them already cut up.
