Guest guest
However, we want a young kitten. Do they spay young kittens?? I don't know about females but our boys they said had to be 5-6 months old. They are going on Feb. 7th and they will be 5 1/2 months old then. Guest guest
Thanks, Lelia. Your Teddy sounds like such a cutie. We still haven't had any luck locating a kitten. I did try the animal shelter, but they want $60 and I just can't afford that.....especially since kittens are given away left and right. The kids are very excited too. I'm not looking forward to getting it neutered due to cost either, but perhaps there's something like what you described around here (I tend to think not!). Guest guest
Very good advice, Vicki. I guess I hadn't thought about having all those expenses out of the way by getting one through the shelter. However, we want a young kitten. Do they spay young kittens?? Guest guest
Okay, I called the animal shelter to see if the $60 included having the cat spayed/neutered and it does. Although the kittens are too young now, they will give me some type of gift certificate that allows you to get it done later. They will also have their vaccinations up to date. So I called a couple vets. and they charge between $36-$85 to spay/neuter cats, so it's worth the money to adopt it from the shelter. Sooooooooo, thanks to Vicki's wonderful advice (what's new??), Emma and I are going to pick out our kitten tomorrow!!! Can you tell I'm excited???? Dawn PS......If I get the choice, which would be a better choice? Male or female?? Dawn wrote: > Very good advice, Vicki. Guest guest
Yes, I found out the one that we are going to adopt is too young (about 2 1/2 mths.), but they will give us a voucher for a future date. Guest guest
Most likely, Dawn, she'll eat when she gets hungry enough. Depends on how much you want to spoil her!!!!! If you end up taking her with you next weekend or when you go train her to a leash/collar/harness now and use a cat carrier. She'll ride more content. My cat who loved to ride was an unusual cat in more ways than one---he had lots of extra toes on each foot. She'll really be better off at home I think among things she's used to---remember she tried to hide on you. Tommy is still frightened of everyone he sees outside!! Tommy doesn't seem to mind riding---not a peep out of him---have had cats that howled the whole way!!! And the late Ms. Muffy was master of getting out of those temporary cardboard boxes some vets used to have! Hence the one I have now because she got out of one en route so stopped at Target and bought one. She was roaming and yelling all over car. In carrier, reasonably quiet. Each cat is different!! Also once I tried taking 2 cats and dog together to the vet--never again--saved a little $$ but what frayed nerves I had! Lelia
