Guest guest
I have a question. How much liquid medicine do you take after your surgery ? I was just wondering. I have a hard time with liquid meds. I can't take cough medicine. Thanks Char wlslori wrote: > i take a liquid calcium ctrate & magnesium made by Nature's Life. @ > thursday's B12 shot appt, i just might nag my PCP about getting a > dexascan. i've heard that only a small portion of the body's > calcium is picked up during bloodwork, so a bone scan is far more > precise. > lori h. > > > > I keep reading various things on what calcium supplement to take. > > First I was told calcium citrate only, then I read some people > take > > Vivactiv (calcium carbonate), and most recently read where Coral > > Calcium is the only true absorable calcium. Guest guest
First off, coral calcium IS calcium carbonate which is something that is not readily absorbed by RNY post-ops. The reason is is that calcium carbonate requires stomach enzymes to digest it which we no longer have available. There are other forms of calcium beside the citrate which you can also take, but basically you want to avoid the calcium carbonate. You might want to try a liquid calcium (not coral or carbonate) such as Calcium 1200 with Magnesium by Source Naturals which is what I am taking and I like. Hope this helps Caroline Lap RNY 5/2/03 367/314/150 www.tinyurl.com/bkld > I keep reading various things on what calcium supplement to take. > First I was told calcium citrate only, then I read some people take > Vivactiv (calcium carbonate), and most recently read where Coral > Calcium is the only true absorable calcium. Guest guest
Hi Char I took and take quite a bit - the pain meds (Lortab), vitamin (SeaSilver), calcium (Liquid Calcium 1200 with Magnesium). I tried the Proteinex but that stuff was beyond disgusting. Some liquids are more " doable " than others... But trust me, if you have trouble taking capsules like I do as a post-op, you will be relieved to take the liquids! Caroline Lap RNY 5/2/03 367/314/150 www.tinyurl.com/bkld > I have a question. Guest guest
Wow! Now you must be a lady who was on a mission to say the least in order to do the Proteinex! LOL - not me! I'm a wimp! Guest guest
only did it to save my hair. a nutritionist/wls patient urged us to use it, so thankfully neither one of us became " scalpies " . i've definitely been described as driven, you're right. lori h. > > hi char. i did the prot shakes the 1st 2 months & switched to > > proteinex till month 6. i put up with plenty, anything & > everything > > for the cause. > > lori h. > > 14 grateful months post-op > >

Guest guest
Hi there Proteinex is a liquid supplement. It has 15 grams of protein in 2 tbsp of it. To me, it is one of the most vile things I've ever tasted. Tried it once and will NEVER do it again LOL I figure, I can just do the protein shakes almost just as easily and get more protein in without all the bad taste and texture. I have a full " review " of it in my obesityhelp.com profile at www.tinyurl.com/bkld . Hope this helps!
