Aase Marit,

I've been on and off on this list lately because I am working full time and

most times don't have the energy to keep up. However, I read you post and it

brought back so many memories of 1998 Conference. I remember talking to you

about you trying out the chair you had. You seemed to be doing ok then, but I

do remember you felt uncomfortable. Now, several years later, I know how that

feels. I have finally gotten to the point that I use my handicap tag for

parking all the time and have used the " Mart Carts " in the store to get around.

We also bought a simple scooter through E-Bay for car shows, the mall, etc.. I

have resisted for a long time until I finally realized how much I was missing

with my family and friends. I still resist some, but also know how much more

I can do using my scooter. I really wish we could have gotten together when

I went to Norway a few years ago, but our schedule got a lot tighter than we

thought with all the family to visit. But I really would have loved to get

together. Anyway, glad to see you back on the list - missed you and was worried

about you!

Hi ,

I am also back after being off the list for a

long time... Yes, I really felt uncomfortable

starting with the chair. Sure did... But going

with it, was also a huge revelation... It was

amazing how easy it was to go shopping and such.

Well, exept for not seeing anything in the

stores, he-he... I felt like a pygmé (sp?). Sure

is a challenge to maneuver a store being the

height of a kid... :)

I think all of us can relate to resisting using a

chair/scooter for as long as we can. But we all

reach some point when we just have had it with

missing out on things all the time... I had a

look once at eBay and was surprised as to how

many nice wheelchairs you can get there for a

reasonable price. If you know exactly what you

need, it sure is an alternative for many.

It would have been great to see you while you

were here, but that is just how things are. They

doesn't always work out... We'll see eachother

again some day, I am sure... Are you going to the

conference in Buffalo?

Take care!!!

Sincerly,

Aase Marit :)
