Guest guest
Yes as you all know my right shoulder has again become a HUGE problem. Background on my shoulder saga:- In 1995 while working as a ski lift operator (before my sort of EDS diagnosis in 2001)when a large skier fell/sat infont of a chair on the snow and in my trying to protect him my shoulder was injured when he pulled it out of it's socket in panic, I also ended up with RSD as a result (which set in almost instantly) then after many sublxation and dislocation episodes etc and a lot of pain etc In 2001 I had a thermal capsular shrinkage and debridement to rectify the instabilty problems but on December 30th (in my sleep) I dislocated it badly (anterior superior)and it wasn't relocated for about 30 hours (as I thought it had relocted itself as they always had done until this point - Boy was I wrong), so I was into the immobiliser to help it recover and then on Jan 21st I again wake up with my shoulder out (again Anterior Superior) and again it wouldn't relocate itself but this time it was even worse, so off to the ER I go o get it checked and the " fun " began they tried to relocate it without pain killers etc by lying me on my tummy with my arm hanging over the edge of the bed (extremely painful and sent me into spasm and my body shaking and me sobbing and crying etc in pain, so they rolled me over and sedated me and relocated it BUT by the time I got to X-ray for my post reduction films it was back out :-<, so back I go and this time I was knocked out completely and it was relocated and I was strapped up and sent home after another set of x- rays and letters etc, then about 1/2 -1 hr after arriving home I feel it is out again so back to the ER I go and after a long wait it was x- rayed again (and here some confusion sets in, the radiologist said it was out, the doc's said it was in so I was sent home (after another sling was applied) but my Osteo after looking at the x-rays also says it was out the last time and now says it is so unstable it is just sort of hanging out and slopping about in there. I know many others here have this same problem (boy the RSD hates this). So I have an appointment to fly up and see my shoulder OS on the 23rd Feb and he said on the phone that further surgery will probably be needed so I have been collecting info and am after certain articles mainly on : post op pain control, shoulder procedures, orthopaedic manifestations and on the achilles tendon operation that has been attempted on (I can't remeber who here) and how EDS will effect this, and those with RSD if you have any useful info then that would be greatly appreciated too. As I had post op pain control problems (especially once released and seeing as the hospital the I attend for my surgery is a 45 min flight away I can't just pop back after I am discharged). Thanx in advance Sharon
