Guest guest
Hi , My research is going very well. I had a free phone consult with my potential California IVF doctor yesterday, which was very interesting. I had sent him my medical information a few weeks ago and had prepared a list of questions (I think you saw the list from the SurroAsher group.) I used probably a third of those questions since I only had a half hour phone consult. We spent most of the time reviewing my AS diagnosis and my PCOS history. It's funny. He was the first doctor to say officially you have PCOS. All my other doctors denied that I have it. He also said he was amazed I was able to stay pregnant with my first child. He said PCOS patients have a tendancy to miscarry. He also thought I probably had placenta accreta, which led to my hemmorhaging, which led to my retained placenta, which led to the D&C, and then led to the AS. He noted my uterine infection -- endometritis and said sometimes this can lead to ovarian infections if it is not treated in time. I don't know what " in time " means. I had an infection during birth, which was treated with antibiotics for 3 out of 5 days (my lovely doctors didn't think I needed all five days) and then didn't get additional antibiotics until 2 weeks after my d&c, which was 10 weeks after giving birth. Now I have a fear that my ovaries are screwed up too in addition to my uterus. Has anyone heard of ovarian infections that can lead to ovarian scarring? In my year being on this board, I haven't heard of ovarian infections, but I'm sure if it exists, I probably had that too! Ok - back to surrogacy. My friend, who is a surrogate and carrying twins for a couple, had found two surrogates who were willing to help us. My doctor doesn't like the medical history of one of them...too many miscarriages (three/four) and too my births (five). This surrogate was in Indiana, very close to me, but with her medical history, we can't risk it. The other surrogate, who lives in California, probably the farthest from me, is an experienced surrogate (had twins last year) and meets many of our requirements. I need to get her complete medical profile and see where it leads us. I like the fact that she is experienced, has her own insurance and wants to start the process within the next few months. We also have the financial situation pretty much figured out and we need to wrap up who will be doing the legal end of things. We have a couple of options (it's nice to have a friend in the surrogacy business!) and whoever gives us the best deal will be the one to get the business! I'm feeling a lot better these days knowing that we have a few options on growing our family...albeit a little differently than most! I also threw out all of my sanitary pads and didn't shed a tear. It was as if I closed a chapter of my life and I don't plan on looking back....too many things to look forward to! Hope all of you are well and welcome to all of the new members. As I have said in previous posts....the best piece of advice is to see an A-list doctor ASAP. Don't waste your time with anyone else. Take it from me, time and experience is of the essence! Sara O. > Sara O. > How are you doing on your research into surrogacy? I saw you were looking into it on a post 6/18. I am also going to be doing surrogacy. Guest guest
Sara O, I am so happy to hear you are so far along in this process!!! I chuckled when you said that you didn't shed a tear throwing out your pads. Sounds like things are really moving and you should have a baby soon! Please keep us updated on your process - when do you find out if your ovaries are okay?

Guest guest
Sara O, I found out recently that my mother had severe " folliculitis " when she was a teenager. I think this must be the same thing as an ovarian infection. Anyway, she DID have severe pain that sent her to the hospital. She also went on to have 5 healthy children. Just wanted to let you know... I have to commend you on your strength and resolve. You are a real inspiration on this board! Haley
