Just wanted to welcome all of the new members and tell you that I'm

sorry that I haven't replied to each of you individually. I am

filling in as a moderator for so I have had a chance to read all

of your introductions and every time I read of a new AS case, my heart

sinks! Although I haven't replied to you, I have been thinking about

you and feeling some of your anger and have shed a tear or 2 as I read

what you have been through. I am currently getting ready for surgery

#3 but have been trying to take a break from AS(if that is possible)

but also wanted you all to know that I have been thinking about you.

Please ask lots of questions and more importantly don't rush into

having treatment from a doctor without really checking into whether or

not they have experience. There are far too many doctors out there

who are willing to treat AS that shouldn't and too many of us have

learned that the hard way. I had originally scheduled my first

surgery with a reg OB who wasn't optimistic but willing to try. I

cancelled with her but she traveled 4 hours to observe my 2nd surgery

with A-list Dr. Olive and afterwards admitted that she was very happy

that she wasn't the one doing the surgery and no longer attempts it.

If I hadn't followed that gut feeling, she would have done the surgery

and I believe that my chances of having another baby would have ended.

So please take your time and if at all possible at least get the

opinion of an A-lister before going through any more treatment. I

know that when I was first diagnosed with severe AS, all I wanted was

to get it fixed ASAP but after awhile even I have become patient about

all the waiting and that's something I never thought possible! I wish

all of you the best and will become more active here again soon.
