Psoriasis and EDS

Hi there,

When I saw Prof Bird on Thursday he mentioned that the areas of sore,

flaky skin I have could be psoriasis, especially as I have two strong

hereditary factors for it - my paternal grandfather had it very badly

and my mother has Crohns disease which is strongly linked with

Psoriasis apparently. It's one of the things that we will get checked

out properly during my upcoming assessment/diagnostic stay in Leeds

General hospital.

What I was particularly interested in though, was that Prof mentioned

EDS can actually offer some protection from Psoriasis - so it may be

preventing it from developing as much as expected. LoL - I guess it's

about I got something good from this darned disorder for a change!

Has anyone got psoriasis with EDS and if so how advanced/developed is

it?

Hope everyone is doing okay.

Love and hugs....Jo

I have psoriasis, but episodes are only triggered by stress. The first time

I had it, my best friend was in the hospital with a perforated bowel from

VEDS. BIG stress there and I had major psoriasis problems. Had to get oral

medication and ointment. When my friend passed away, the psoriasis went

away too. It didn't return until last month when I started grad school. Am

waiting to see if it gets bad enough to bother going to the MD for it.

Aase Marit Waage is on this list, but doesn't have time to read and reply to

all the posts as she is dealing with pneumonia. She has psoriasis and is

quite the expert on the subject. I'll make sure she sees your post and can

reply to you directly about it. When I have questions, she's the one I ask!
