Sometimes I think that it's also necessary to check in with ourselves re how much support is "good enough" rather than how much would be desirable. I realize that my family could do more but on most days I manage. We will have our family together on Thanksgiving and I just can't wait. With my sister's kids now in their late twenties and living all over the place, it's so rare to get everyone under the same roof. I swear I could just sit back quietly and watch them all night. My step-mother started a tradition the first year my dad and her got married. She puts two candy corns at each plate. We go around the tables and state two things we're thankful for. I really like this. I was thankful for the vacation we had, and said that I was thankful for support from my family because I'm finding out on the e-mail list that not everyone gets that, and some are downright critical.
