Guest guest
Ok, so I don't think I ever asked this before, but if I did, sorry about the repeat. Do muscle spasms have anythign to do with EDS? Now my son is having them. He's got a big knot in his back, which is causing a lot of pain. I'm waiting to hear if I can take him over to Mike this morning. So, me, and all 3 of my kids are getting muscle spasms. I can't figure this out. It just doesn't seem normal. Guest guest
Hi , Count me into the muscle pain and spasms group too! I know myalgia is common in EDS/HMSers but not sure if cramping or constant muscle tenderness are included in 'myalgia'. Can't get my head around the medical mumbo jumbo LoL. Any rate, I know what you're talking about. :-C No fun at all! The last 3 months I've had a lot of muscle tenderness, aching, soreness, and now cramping. Have you or your children tried pool therapy in a warm water pool? That helps me maintain a little better balance and mobility I think. Take care.... -Rhea

Guest guest
Hi, I do pool therapy, and so does . , who is 13, is just now starting with the muscle spasms. I have myalgia, and never got the full description of it either. I've just been told is muscle pain. I keep trying to think what could be causing it. Heavy back packs, bad diet, EDS, etc. I just don't know. All kids these days cary heavy back packs, but not all of them get muscle spasms. Our diet is pretty good, even though the kids junk out. But, so do all kids. The only thing I can figure is that it must be EDS. Geeze, I can't wait to see Dr Byers on the 17th. If we don't get that DX then, I just don't know what I'll do. Guest guest
I have muscle spasms too. I've actually had spasms that lasted for hours at a time. Once, my hand clenched in a fist from a spasm in my forearm... about 4 or 5 hours later, it finally released. It was extremely painful. Guest guest
I suffer badly from muscle spasms as well as tremors, tics, and even myoclonus. I do not know if it is EDS or my RSD or something else... Guest guest
Hi , I get a lot of muscle spams, cramps and even suffer from pseudodystonia contractures at time too. These can be so violent my my ligments tear from the curling and contracting and I have even dislocated joints as a resultof them too. It's assumed that down to the EDS but I will hopefully find out more during my stay down with Prof Bird - lol, there are so many things that need checking and testing I'll probably end up there a month! With regard to the muscle spams and cramps, it might be worth getting your doctor to check potassium levels as that can cause spasms. Eating banana's whihc are high in potassium can help prevent cramps and I have been given Quinine to to take for mild spasm and an anti sposmodic for my contractures. Hope you can find out what is causing them darl and that they are easily treatable. Love and hugs....Jo xx

Guest guest
lol- if that 2 week spasm was a mild one- that left whole leg bruised- I'd hate to see a heavy one- they did give me muscle relaxers too as well- I forgot about that.
