Oxycontin allergy ... seizure

Hi all,

My mother-in-law told me she had a rare reaction to a pain medicine. Her

doctor said it was one in 1000. I happened when she was finishing her dialysis.

I

just now found she was allergic to her oxycontin. She was using another brand

name oxycodone. Has anyone else had this. Caro.

I am allergic to oxycodone(oxycontin) and other med's my reaction was

a burn like rash, swelling in face, altered mental state (I was in

an " excited " state (I didn't sleep for nearly 2 days), scratched

myself until I bled and MORE.

Hi Caro,

I have a friend who is allergic to one and not the other.....she can take

oxycodone, but not oxycontin. hope this helps.

My MIL became Paralysed on one side of her body. Rather than a stroke they

hospital said it was a seizure from the medicine. She said it is a rare known

reaction. I am not sure if it is because she is on dialysis or not.

She has recovered but has to take a seizure medicine. She had bad tremor that

is now very mild.

I wouldn't call what happened to me an allergic reaction, but when

getting off of oxycontin due to too many side effects boooyyy did I

get SICK.

Rhea = it sounds like you were having withdrawal symptoms.... other EDSers

have mentioned these symptoms when coming off meds or forgetting to take their

pain med
