Has anyone here had the tummy tuck? I just wanted to know what to expect. How

painful it is, how long I will be out of commission, etc. Thanks in advance for

your reply.

I just looked at the pictures of those having a tummy tuck. They don't

really look like folks that had gastrci bypass. They looked very

skinny with a pooch on their bellies. I was hoping to see people that

actually had skin hanging, like many of us bypass people will have

when we are done losing our weight. I know I will have some loose skin

and would like to know what it might look like. I don't know if I

would go through all that. I'll just have to get donw to my goal

weight and see what things are like from there. If I am in a size 12

pants, but my legs and butt need a 10 , then I might do it. My legs

are getting small and so is my waist, and my butt is GONE, my weight

is staying in my belly/ hips area. I've always had a shapely figure(

even being large), but when I started losing weight, things didn't go

at the same rate.....LOL

I just came out of my second plateau, this one lasted about 1 1/2

weeks, so I'm back on the losing side, I'm now down 70 1/2 lbs. I had

my surgery 7/18/06

, you are doing great!! Congratulations!! I agree, I too am going to see

where I am at 18 months and go from there with my doctor. I too have most of my

weight in my stomach and hip area. Doctor called me bottom heavy last visit.

Looking good on top but need LOTS of work on the bottom. I'll get there tho. My

goal for my sister's wedding next August is size 12/14.. I really need to kick

it into gear. I am slacking.

Hi Lynn --

I had a T/T in May of this year.

I had RNY in April 2003, lost 240 lbs and had a huge amount of skin hanging on

my belly. I didn't have any fat left, just skin...

I took about a week off work and was OK....but I am something of an

over-achiever. Count on far more pain than with a typical RNY surgery. PLan on

a back-ache from stooping for a couple weeks. Plan on needing LOTS of pillows

that are soft an mouldable...several behind your back to support lower back and

neck, at least one under your knees as you will prolly not be comfy with your

legs lying flat.

Remember that nothing good comes without some discomfort/pain.

Good luck! I don't regret having it for a minute.

Take care,

Way to keep a postive attitude Donna!

The way I look at it I'll be thinking about sagging skin very very

far down the road if at all. I got this surgery because of those

pesky things like diabetes and death. I was a few steps beyond giving

a crap what I looked like. I still don't really. Maybe some day I

will.
