Guest guest
I didn¹t know about the eye hemmorage. Sigh; and that would be huge for ppl with EDS (I don¹t think your wife is the one with EDS?) I will make sure that I ask the pharmacist about it. I try to not keep grapefruit juices in the house because I know it reacts to many medications. I know that there is a danger for muscle breakdown with it (symptoms being aching joints etc ... how would we even know?) but I didn¹t know that was with combination of the lipitor. Also there are a lot of speculation about lipitor and ALS connections and Coenzyme Q depletions. (I keep forgetting to take my Coenzyme Q) ------------------ No, my wife is the only one in the family who does NOT have EDS. For any of you taking Lipitor for high cholestrol and getting good results without side effects just ignore my next comments, but I personally HATE, LOATH AND DETEST Lipitor. Risk of eye hemorrage is a KNOWN potential side effect of Lipitor, yet my wife has seen not less than three doctors who flat DENIED the possibility and had to be shown the pages in the PDR to prove it to them. In addition, she had an exam for new glasses with a new optometrist the first of the week and mentioned the eye problem/Lipitor bit to him and his reaction was " Uh huh! " He knew about it and wasn't surprised. My wife's vision is still not back to normal after over a year of dealilng with this, having already gone through two separate hemorrage episodes and cataract surgery because of it. The cataract itself was DIRECTLY caused by the medication used to treat the hemorrage - and this info came straight from her doctor. Getting a cataract was deemed a " lesser problem " than the hemorrage, so the doctor just went ahead and used it - but at no point was she EVER told that it was even a possibility. Some things really push my buttons and this is one of them. AS for the grapefruit issue, this is currently not considered a significant problem by either the FDA or the Canadian equivalent. The ones raising the red flags are those doctors who have been researching dangerous drug interactions in general.
