Guest guest
I am so frustrated! The ortho FINALLY called me back after I called the office yesterday - TWICE!! I guess he was on hospital rounds - so it's understandable. Anyway - I tell him all about what has been going on - And something new - Luli's right check is WAY fuller then her left - After a few days w/ out the band it's like the asymmetries have come back full force. :-( I keep thinking she has something in her mouth-she looks like she has a marshmallow in her cheek. Anyway - He says it all sounds very odd and that maybe she is growing our of her band and she will need another?!?!?! I was like WHAT??? SHe has only had it for 8-9 weeks and hasn't even filled in the back - and still has alot of foam left. Luli was mild to start with - but her facial asymetries are what made us go ahead with it. Anyway - I'm starting to get nervous about this ortho. I know, I know, I need to calm down - but this is all so upsetting. I don't wanna make her worse - but I do wanna make her better. If she needs another band I may PUSH my insurance for a DOC. Anyway - we are gonna scan her and see whats going on w/ her cheeks and noggin on monday morning. I'll let ya know what happens then. Thanks for listening ladies - I know you all understand!!!! Jen and Luli Check out AOL.com today. Breaking news, video search, pictures, email and IM. All on demand. Always Free. Guest guest
Good luck, I'll be thinking of you. I completely understand. It is soooo hard to trust someone with your child's head. You want to give them what is best. It's hard not knowing what is going on underneath that helmet. After having one unsuccessful DocBand, I would have to say that if Luli's band is already outgrown despite having additional foam to shave, that the ortho could have over-shaved it in one area . I really believe that is what happened with our first DocBand, and why it did absolutely nothing to correct her asymmetry (both head and face). Of course I'm no expert. Just my suspicions after the fact. I hope the ortho can figure out what is going on, and can correct the problem as quickly as possible! Keep us posted. Guest guest
I am very new to all of this, but is she having an allergic reaction of some sort? At any rate, if you are not comfy with the ortho you have now, you really should try to find one you are comfortable with. It's so important to know you can fully rely on your docs.
