Guest guest
Who is this person's surgeon! They should have done more about her nutritional problems long ago! Secondly she should demand that they lengthen her common channel. If she is in no shape for surgery, they should give her a feeding tube in her bilio limb, to bolster her nutrition until she is in good enough shape for surgery. She needs to make a huge demand here to her surgeon!! Guest guest
There is a revision surgery to correct this condition. Dr. Anthone at USC in L.A. does it. Basically, it is a lengthening of the common channel so that more absorption may occur. Not all WLS surgeons are able to do this and apparently, hers is not. Hopefully, someone will inform her that a life sentence of this misery is avoidable. Sharon Lee -- San Diego DGB w/DS - Dr. Anthone - USC - June 1999 One persons experience with WLS got this from one of the BPD/DS folks and wanted to share this with you. Rita in Vermont ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Her experience only...... Had BPD/DS surgery on June 1, 1999. I went from 280 to 114 in a year. Size 26 to a size 4. I then gained back about 15 pounds of that after 18 months which is fine because the doctors thought that I was too small. It took me about 8 months to gain it back. My size is great but I have more medical problems now than I ever did before surgery mostly due to malabsorption.
