Caleb, my son, had his CT Scan last Monday, saw the doctor on

Wednesday, and was casted on Thursday. He receives his helmet on

the 25th which is exactly 2 weeks from the casting day. As far as

what to expect during the first appointment, we just had ours with

the helmet maker Thursday and they asked if we had any questions,

then asked for us to undress Caleb down to his diaper, then they

proceeded to get messy with the casting... It was wet and Caleb

fussed a little bit when the wetness touched his head. They said it

was warm, and that it bothers some babies. He let it sit till dry,

and made marker points on his cast, and then just pulled it off. I

have pictures if you'd like to see them...

http://www.hollyhobbie.150m.com/Calebs_World/plagiocephaly.htm Good

luck with your son's appointment, and push for cancellations at the

helmet maker. It can't hurt to try. I got all three of my

appointments in last week because I pushed for cancellations. :)

Hi skytza05

Grandson was fitted for his helmet on May 10th. He is scheduled to get

helmet tomorrow (May 17th) at 11:00. I have a couple of pictures of

his fitting under " Clayton Journal " . It took about 20 minutes for the

fitting. I would like to ask everyone what should we expect......I

have read that it could be difficult for a couple of days. Will he have

trouble sleeping in it at first? We are looking for helpful hints and

some encouragement.

Thanks.....cloepaints

Hi Skytza! I was thinking of you and Ethan a couple of days ago, I'm

glad to " see " you again and hear that you're moving forward.

On our initial consult they took pictures of baby, measured him and

they casted him (he cried but it was over in a few minutes and then

he was fine) 2 weeks later we got his helmet.

good luck to you! keep us posted.

Your old friend from BAM, Tulip :)

Well this isn't very reassuring. Unfortunately CT is completely out of

the question. My fiancee and I both work full time and there is no way

we would be able to make 2.5 hour trips each way every other week. We

would lose our jobs missing that much work and we need our jobs to

keep a roof over our head. I just want this resolved so we don't have

to stress about it anymore. I wish I wasn't hearing that CT is the

only way to go because that's just stressing me out more :(

I know sometimes kiddos have trouble adjusting and sleeping the

first couple days but that was not the case with us. Nate has been

in his DOC band for 9 days and he barely even blinked... The only

thing I could say is maybe a couple naps were short the first two

days because he got hot. But we live in Phoenix and keep our air

conditioner on 80. After his naps I would take it off and wipe off

his head and the inside of the band and put it right back on. The

first night and every night after he has slept just as good as prior

to the band. So some babies really adjust well so just wait and see

what happens. If he is fussy it should be pretty mild and

shortlived. Lots of luck to you all.

80?!? I wish we could keep our air conditioner at 80!

We have it at 72 for our son (we are also in Phoenix)

and only dress him in light onesies, but there are

times he still sweats. I'm usually freezing. :-)

Hi,

A baby your baby's age is usually seen every 2- 2.5 weeks. From what I

understand other banding companies only band up until 18 months, I'm

sorry.

Sorry if we stressed you out more...don't worry there are definitely other options aside from CT. This board is a great resource...and with many members who have not used the docband. You should feel good about the fact that you're doing everything you can to make things better for your baby. You will find the right fit for your family soon. skytza05 <skytza05@...> wrote: Well this isn't very reassuring. Unfortunately CT is completely out of the question.
