According to the next post in the digest Ms spdrwm@... says she is at

least 1-year out from WLS surgery of some type. My guess is the RNY.

And, yes, I sit here and admit that I did not know what " NO BABY DADDYS " did

mean.

Having said that, , exactly what support do you want? Information on

how to get back on track with the RNY because you have " only " lost 175 lbs?

That's an incredible amount of weight to have lost, and then to suffer the

loss of a limb due to flesh eating bacteria? That's awful, and something

that I hope never happens to me.

I had the BPD/DS surgery, so cannot offer you advise on what you can do about

the RNY as the ability to eat fried foods and sugar and carbs don't matter to

me. My malabsorption rate is so much higher than those with the proximal or

medial RNY.

Fat is not absorbed at a high rate due to the surgery, however, carbs are

absorbed at a little higher rate than the fats, and the sugars absorbed at

approximately 100%.

My needs of supplementation are lower since the part of the duodem that is

left at the bottom of the stomach does absorb vitiman B12, however, I still

need to supplement every day with a Prenatal multivitiman and extra (200mg)

of calcium. I use the the Viactives which are just wonderful, like snacking

on candy. BPD/DSers do not have the " dumping " problems of the RNYs when

ingesting sugars.

5 foot 4 (and a half), 50 years old, starting wt at VBG=264. starting wt at

BPD/DS=236. Weight now (14 months out from surgery) 145.

Off track, me? Nah not really. My weight loss has slowed since Aug while I

was dealing with my ankle problems and eventual amputation. But thursday I

got my 'wooden' leg. And hopefully I'll start physical therapy soon, even

though I'm already using it. So with the increased activing ill come

increased weight loss.

btw, the flesh eating bac and my ankle probs were two seperate insidents.

I've been one of those unfortunate ppl who've been in and out of hospital

(non weight related) for the past 7 yrs. That's why it pisses me off when

people who still have alternatives get quick insurance approval, while people

like me have to fight for any type of medical aid (and I'm not just talking

about wls.. I'm POST OP).
